Serious Question.

For argument sake, lets move forward with the scenario that this is Jason Licht's final year as Buccaneers GM (win/lose/or draw - no hypothetical situations on what it will take for him to retain his position)

Do you really want him making splash free agent signings this off season that will have future cap implications that he will not have to be around to deal with?

Do you really want him completely dismantling or blowing up the roster to free up cap space? For HIM to spend in his final year? (Again with no regards for future implications)

The reason I'm asking is just from observation of the real frustrations many people on this board (including myself) have with Licht and this front office over the past few years. It seems like a good majority of people don't trust Licht and lambaste every move he makes (good or bad or neutral)... but also are the same ones who lobby really hard for Licht to make serious moves that would have long term implications moving forward. Everyone has their own off-season Buc Battle Plan and swears they know what moves would be good and get really upset at the inactivity.

If Jason Licht did exactly what you thought needed to be done this off season, would you trust it was the right move? Would you give him credit for making good moves (if he executed YOUR battle plan)? Would you give him an extension?

Those are important questions for discussion. I would love input from all of you.

My personal feelings on the current situation is pump the brakes. Operating on the very real possibility that this is Jason Lichts final year as GM... I do NOT want him making any BIG moves this off season. The way everything is set up contract wise we are set up for maximum ability to clean house next year with a new GM and have one of the best CAP positions in the league.

Obviously there are going to be more moves to be made this off season... but in the grand scheme I want them to be minor and insignificant... Because If everything stays relatively the same... just in expiring contracts alone we are projected to have nearly $60 mil in Cap space next year (that includes Jameis Winston coming off the books)... With the flexibility to Cut/Trade McCoy $12.5 mil, JPP $11.25 mil, Jensen $10mil, Brate $6mil... That's an additional $40 mil... That a New GM would have the ability to work with to remake this team with the Head Coach in place for 3 years.

Again... Operating on the assumption that this is Jason Lichts final year with no possibility of extension. I honestly don't want him screwing up the future in his final hurrah on the way out the door. I get the feeling that many of you don't want him to do that either... but also at the same time want him to make moves that would do just that. (Cut/Trade/Restructure players now to spend now on long term big contracts that will mess up future flexibility)

It doesn't seem to make sense. I'd rather Arians see what he can do with what we have (minor changes here and there in terms of roster)... Get a real good assessment after a full year of where this team really is... and if Jason Licht is out... Arians can hand pick a GM that can come in and help him actually rebuild this team with the CAP flexibility to really make moves.

If this team crashes and burns... and we have to move on from Licht and Winston... I'd rather do so with the possibility of $80+ mil in Cap space, a clean deck, and good draft positioning in what is shaping up to be a LOADED 2020 QB/OL/DB draft class.

Enough of my rambling lol what are you all's opinions/thoughts?
