I was wondering if we have directly asked who the Bucs would draft at #7 if we were to just draft based value. Assuming a player's character checks out... I would define value as some weird combination of a formula such as: Best overall talent level for the position... summed (added or subtracted) against positional value... summed against (added or subtracted) the depth of the position group in the draft.
So, for instance... when we drafted Winston...
On a scale of 1 -100, he was nearly a 100 level talent coming out of college.
On a scale of 1 - 100, the QB position is a 100 level positional value.
On a scale of 1 - 100, the QB position in his draft had nearly a 100 level of scarcity.
So Winston's total draft value that year was a perfect 300.
In this year's draft... how would we rank the players based on this system? Here's how mine would stack up (skipping QB's, because I don't believe any of them would rank anywhere near the top based on this formula).
1). Vea... he seems to be close to a 100 in talent level for his position. DT seems to somewhere in the 75 range in terms of position value... and DT seems to have like a 85 scarcity level in this draft - seeing that there are only a few DT's projected to go in the first two rounds. So, his overall score would be 260.
2). Chubb... he seems to be about a 85 in talent level for his position. DE seems to somewhere in the 95 range in terms of position value... and DE seems to have like a 75 scarcity level in this draft. So, his overall score would be 255.
3). Nelson... he seems to be about a 100 in talent level for his position. OG seems to somewhere in the 70 range in terms of position value... and OG seems to have like a 60 scarcity level in this draft - as there are a lot of good OG's. So, his overall score would be 230.
4). Derwin James... he seems to be about a 100 in talent level for his position. S seems to somewhere in the 55 range in terms of position value... and S seems to have like a 75 scarcity level in this draft. So, his overall score would be 230.
5). Barkley... he seems to be about a 100 in talent level for his position. RB seems to somewhere in the 65 range in terms of position value... and RB seems to have like a 50 scarcity level in this draft. So, his overall score would be 215.
6). Ward... he seems to be about a 85 in talent level for his position. CB seems to somewhere in the 80 range in terms of position value... and CB seems to have like a 50 scarcity level in this draft. So, his overall score would be 215.
