I mostly try to stay outta personnel criticisms because jobs are on the line but I haven't seen many people accurately pin point the real problem here. A few posters have nailed but its been few and far between.
We have had really really terrible teams for some time now. The worst. I mean its almost IMPOSSIBLE to have teams this bad for so long in the NFL - a sport engineered to achieve parody. Way back since Raheem was asked to sit in the driver seat and the talking heads were screaming that Freeman should be given a long term deal..... The only team in our league is Cleveland and they are basically building from an expansion since Modell moved the old browns to Baltimore and won it all there. So in essence nobody has been as bad as the Bucs. Nobody plays with the attitude I see us play with. Its like they could care less, the paycheck is all that matters, and tomorrow the sun will rise again. Under Raheem, Schiano, Smith, Kotter we have fielded historically bad defenses. So....whats the common denominator. well, lets see...the leader(s) of our defense cultivate a certain attitude and what will and what will not be tolerated in the locker room. The leader of this defense has been our Achilles heel for many years...oh dont get me wrong its not talent. We have talent in spades...its an attitude. Attitudes are contagious. An attitude that says "tackling is my hobby but cashing the Glazers check is my job" ...To stop the bleeding you have to change the culture, change the attitude. Its not the coach, not the gm, not the quarterback, not the owners, and not the offense. Its the leader on defense.
