I'm confused

Every year Griffin has been in the league he practices well, plays great in the preseason, is accurate and intelligent yet everyone laughs when some fans want to see what he can do. Best excuse is "he's never thrown a pass in a regular season game. Who gives a crap! How are we ever gonna know what he can do if he isn't given an opportunity? We know what Jameis is so let's see what we have in Griffin. If he fails he fails, at least we know he isn't the answer. I look around the league and I see these teams winning with their backup QB's so it's not an inconceivable idea.
