Impending Free Agents and Who to Track and Sign. (Offense)Dec 16, 2015Just to get this out of the way, this article will not include if they are resigned by their team, and that this is a world with no salary cap. With the loss of our latest game, dashing hopes of playoffs for any realistic fan, its is back to the grind of: next season, draft, free agency. *gets the chills* This is an article/list of who we should sign from the big name free agents, or just free agents who would fit Lovie Smith's "defense" or offense.QuarterbackNot really necessary, given we have Mike Glennon, and Famous Jameis, but anyway...Notables:Sam Bradford, EaglesDrew Stanton (sideline dance man), CardinalsRyan Fitzpatrick, JetsMatt Hasselbeck, ColtsChad Henne, JaguarsShould we get any of them? Not really, but if I had to choose, it would be Matt Hasselbeck or Ryan Fitzpatrick, as I personally have a man crush on Hasselbeck, but also could provide great tutoring for Jameis, though he is probably going to retire. Same goes for the tutoring with the Fitz.Running BackWith the resurgence of Doug Martin, and pass-catcher Charles Sims III, we again don't really need this.Notables:Matt Forte, BearsChris Ivory, JetsLamar Miller, DolphinsLegarrette Blount, PatriotsCJ Anderson, BroncosAlfred Morris, RedskinsShould we get any of them?Yes, I believe we should sign a power/bruiser running back, like I said in a previous article. Of all the power backs set to hit FA, we should look into Chris Ivory or Alfred Morris, because I believe the front office would not want Blount again.FullbackThe most underrated position in football, I personally value fullback. (I run FB Dive in madden all the time on my friends.) Jokes aside, Jorvorskie Lane has done well so again, not really a need.Notables:Mike Tolbert, CarolinaJohn Kuhn, PackersJames Develin, PatriotsWill Tukuafu, SeahawksDarrel Young, RedskinsTyler Clutts, CowboysShould we get any of them?Yes, we should pick up a blocking fullback, and cut Luke Stocker. Sign either Tukuafu, Clutts, or Kuuuuhhhhhnnnnn!Tight EndWith the oft injured Seferian-Jenkins, and Brate the Great, Tight end would be the biggest need on this list so far. Brandon Myers has no flash, he is just there, and I hate Luke Stocker.Notables:Antonio Gates, ChargersMarcedes Lewis, JaguarsVernon Davis, BroncosBenjamin Watson, SaintsDwayne Allen, ColtsCoby Fleener, ColtsShould we get any of them?Yes, we should pursue Dwayne Allen and Marcedes Lewis, because both are a more blocking tight end mainly, but can also catch balls better than a little league outfielder.Wide ReceiverWith Mike "Where's the flag?" Evans, aging Vincent Jackson, and Louis Murphy Jr, our receiver corp isn't that desperate, but considering two can't get/stay on the field, and one is at times a sissy, we could use a splash receiver.Notables:Anquan Boldin, 49ersPercy Harvin, BillsRod Streater, RaidersJermaine Kearse, SeahawksBrian Quick, RamsMohammed Sanu, BengalsAlshon Jeffery, BearsRueben Randle, GiantsTravis Benjamin, BrownsMarvin Jones, BengalsRishard Matthews, DolphinsRicardo Lockette, SeahawksJames Jones, PackersJosh Gordon, BrownsShould we get any of them?Definitely. Alshon Jeffery would totally replace VJax, at a price close to his of course. Mohammed Sanu is a gadget player, who we could run trick plays with all the time, and he is incredible at stretching the field, either with his legs or arm. Rueben Randle is a good route runner, and would complement Mike "My hands are bigger than the average person but a drunk, fat, 43 year old guy could catch better than me." Evans perfectly.Offensive TackleDonovan Smith sucks. There I said it. You were thinking it too, don't lie. Now the elephants out of the room, we can get on to theNotables:Russel Okung, SeahawksAndre Smith, BengalsDonald Penn, RaidersMitchell Schwartz, BrownsKelvin Beachum, SteelersCordy Glenn, BillsDon Barclay, PackersShould we get any of them? Most of them are approaching 30 or are on the wrong side of it. I don't believe the front office would bring Donald Penn back, so we should probably set our sights on Andre Smith or Don Barclay so we can move Demar Dotson to LT, and kick Donovan Smith to LG.GuardWith Logan Mankins aging and no real backup behind Ali Marpet, and even with the aforementioned solution, we should pursue a backup grade LG/RG at least.Notables:Alex Boone, 49ersEvan Mathis, BroncosChris Chester, FalconsJR Sweezy, SeahawksRichie Incognito, BillsKelechi Osemele, RavensWillie Colon, JetsShould we get any of them?Kelechi Osemele, while he wouldn't go with my previous plan, he is just that good of a road grading run blocker, a perfect fit for us. Willie Colon would be more along the lines of the backup plan, or if he doesn't retire we could bring in Evan Mathis, who fits our zone/power run scheme.CenterWith Joe Hawley, and Evan Smith (maybe) we have a good center corp. But it could be better. Evan Smith is a little over paid, and if he won't take a cut, we should probably let him go.Notables:Stefen Wisniewski, JaguarsRyan Wendell, PatriotsWill Montgomery, BearsBrian De La Peunte, RedskinsShould we get any of them?In short, not really. of any, Stefen Wisniewski, but most centers hitting FA are about 28-32, and we are better off drafting one.RecapRealistically, we probably won't get any of who I said, as most of them are invaluable to their teams. But if they fall into our lap, we should consider the options. I will post a defense one within the next day.link
