“Battles are primarily won in the hearts of men”
One of my favorite quotes from Lombardi.
To win this game there has to be a certain level of grit , and physicality for us to dawg it out. They told us we shouldn’t be here, we didn’t have what it took, and now we're here they still don't think we belong. Media says we should be happy with our season, the only team/fans that doesn’t experience heartache is the Superbowl winner. We’re a top 8 team in the NFL as of now still with no respect. Do not let the Lions outwill us. The biggest deciding factor in this game is trench play and physicality, something no one knows how it will be until game day. Somethings gameplans don't account for is when there is undeniable heart and will shown. Think about our wk6 meeting and Amon rah's td Reynold flies 15 yards from the backfield to spring a block for a td. I know that's the Lions highlight calling card message in film all week. This is a lot of what gritty/hard play is, blocking, hustling, pursuit, pushing that pile, giving that opponent that little extra shove pushing yourself to brink of exhaustion to impose your will.
My father always gave me this analogy. Your opponent is an oak tree and your ax is YOUR RESOLVE, YOUR WILL, and YOUR HEART. Use it to CHOP DOWN YOUR OPPONENT play by play down by down. Keep our axes sharp. The Lions are expecting to win, they think they're gonna outwork, they think they gon out physical us….DON'T LET THEM. Stay ready stay prepared, don't be surprised by the level of physicality, but embrace it…love it, because it only gets more grueling. Teams that make it this far aren't mentally weak and don’t just layover. Force them to layover, eventually they get chopped down. Do not let them outwill us. 180 minutes left to a championship.

The difference between 2020/21 Bucs and 2022. And 2023.
you can hear that point in Godwin’s recent comments and Bowles comments too and obviously in the messaging from Mayfield about being underdogs.
To me, this is the most fascinating aspect of team sports. A team is NOT equal to the sum of its parts. That’s Madden. In the real world a team is a collection of flawed athletes (both positives and negatives) with ever shifting motivations. This is why the 2023 Bucs most likely beat the 2022 Bucs even with less talent. As Godwin just said about 2022 you don’t win games because you look good on paper.
you want AJ Browns stats, you get his stats and his personality. You want the GOAT at QB you get him in 20 and he is way more than his stats. His leadership elevates the play of every Buc. Same in 2021. But in 2022, you don’t get the GOAT, you get only Tom Brady. Still all the talent BUT no early training camp, leave of absence, Kraft party over football etc NO longer leading by example, elevating everyone’s play.
Godwin’s point about on paper
ever shifting
Fresh off a Super Bowl win and talks of “dynasty” the 2003 Bucs were stacked with HOFers … but also a front office power struggle and Keyshawn Johnson versus Gruden.
the Eagles were 10-1 lol
Every player in the NFL is talented. It’s more a matter of getting everyone focused and motivated around a common cause. Godwin, Davis and Mayfield all feel disrespected … for different reasons, but it’s a common cause.
Listen IF IF IF we can PLAY TO OUR POTENTIAL, we saw a flash of what that looks like vs the Iggles, we’ll win it all. The only thing standing in their way is themselves;ves Bishes. Can they do that again, but catch the BALLs😂 this time??? Just do that. Maybe add in GW!!!!4 and sum moah ME!!!3, a trick play on ST and on offense to befuddle them And stress them tf out. Keep the foot heavy on the pedal in all 5 phases of the game…we win. Simple. Now, theres the path, players just need to execute it, they will have their next chance this Sunday, day after tomorrow Bishes!!!, to see where their heads are at as a team, and as Fuggin Buccaneers searching for Kitties and Booty at da same time 😂😂😂😂. Or they shut the bed 😭😭😭😭. Either wayIDGAF!1!!

Dynasty I like the sound of that.
Does defense still win championships?
We dawg it out and out physical the lions….we win tomorrow.
…..and will have the privledge to face Goliath
The reason the Bucs didnt repeat in 2003 was because of Peyton Manning. We were crushing teams, we were CRUSHING Indy on MNF, until 4 minutes left in the 4th Quarter, I watched us LOSE THE SEASON in those 4 MINUTES. Football is a sport that relies on some momentum, moreso than in other sports. We lost 2003 in 4 minutes, we turned into LIMP DIKS for the next several years after those 4 minutes. Anyhoo, now the shoe is on the other foot and WE ARE OVERACHIEVING, how anyone could say we are overachieving is also IRONIC in its own way. For example, we were not pegged to win more than 5 games by most talking heads, BASED ON WHAT EXACTLY??? TB12 LEAVING??? Yeah I get it, GOat and ALL, BIG SHOES to FIll and aLL, but we still are only 2 years removed from STRAIGHT UP Contenders- Only the Rams beat us and they won it all, then we had ONE DOWN YEAR, half our roster played with TB12 and kicked the SH out of KC, the other half of our roster is composed of rising stars, now granted, the talking heads do not own a crystal ball, I dont personally know anyone who does so, its unfair to blame them for not realize that a rookie class can be so impactful so early on, JL has been KILLING IT in the DRAFT, IN FA (BALLER!!!!), getting Greenberg to count beans and find BEANS where none exist!!!! If Indy taught me anything on OCtober 6th 2003 is that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. 21 point comeback when we basically took the starters out of the game on defense in the last 4 minutes, it was that hubris that killed 2003. It was not too long after Peyton won his first SB with a coach Ive heard of before, I think he helped clean this place up with Malcom back in the old days of Wyche and Malcom and Tony and Rich MmmKay. The Bucs kinda had a middling Dynasty at around that time, it was fun to be a BUC Fan back then. We had starts on Defense WS, HardY!!!, DB, Ronde and Lynch not too long after I think. Shelton Quarles Donnie Abraham. On Offense we had WD, MA, Karl THE TRUTH later we added Keenan McCardell, Joe J, Joey G, MeShawn Johnsen...we had a number 1 overall pick who was never meant for us, He found his SB ELSEWHERE, in our Capitol. For ST we had an Automatica until he lost his mental and then suffered a freakish injury while like jumping or something silly, we had a vet punter, cant remeber his name and a long snapper who had been their for ages. On the coaches side we had TD and his underclassmen- H Edwards, Marinelli (Poor guy had 0-16 season as HC, but was a killer on the DLINE and no slouch as DC. Lovie Meh Smith, Mike Tomlin, Clyde Christensen and others. I see alot of similarities between us then and us NOW. I like it, its...once again, a GREAT time to be a BUCCANEER and BUCCANEER Fan!!!!
Ramon B 1981 GOOO Bucs!!!!
Does defense still win championships?
I think so, even in the age of offenses.
football is still a game where the most physical and motivated team most often wins
The reason the Bucs didnt repeat in 2003 was because of Peyton Manning.
The reason we didn't repeat was the defense didn't have the type of year that could bail out overrated Gruden.

Symptom not a cause.
At least we get the underdog role today:

As of Saturday afternoon, Detroit is a 6-point home favorite over Tampa Bay, a number unprecedented in the franchise’s playoff history.
It’s the largest favorite the Lions have been in the postseason since sports betting was legalized in Nevada in 1949, according to ESPN Stats & Information, surpassing a game in 1970 against the Cowboys when Detroit was a 4-point favorite.
We’re here baby quest to immortality
