GameTime: "You can't fix something if you don't know what the problem is."The thing they all have in common rhymes with "shovey." One of the worst offensive records of the last decade.

and yet with 9 years of data you still can't directly pinpoint why.

How about Lovie, has he pinpointed why? For some reason, you keep ignoring that part. I sure hope he hasn't been waiting on me to figure it out for him.

And has a winning record as a head coach and went to a Super Bowl w/ Rex Grossman and that defense and KC scored 44pts and lost a playoff game. What was the point again :)

are you expecting him to state exactly what went wrong? I would assume it was a combination of talent and play caller. Both situations have changed.

Lovie claims to have readdressed his offensive philosophy during his time off .Getting in with a guy like Tedford seems to confirm that. Tedford is not a Mike Shula/Mike Tice type coordinator.

This is why I'm not concerned.  Lovie had a lot of free time to re-evaluate the current state of offense in the NFL.  Judging by how fast this staff is being assembled, I can only guess that he's been in contact with Tedford for quite some time.  I would bet that they've been perfecting Tedford's schemes and using Lovie's defensive mind to predict how other teams will react.  I'm optimistic, but willing to be patient for them to work out the kinks.

Tedford is a complete unproven running an NFL offense. Not sure how anyone can be anything more than cautiously optimistic about this hire... :)

Classic!  Schiano was our Lumberg.  Dom is still searching for his stapler.

The question is why do people assume because he claims he's figured it out now that he's right? He had 9 years with multiple OCs and offensive rosters to figure it out, yet each and every time the results of those fixes stank. Why would his fix be any different this time just because he was unemployed? If anything that scares me more if it works because it shows if something isn't working he's going to struggle to fix it while still coaching the team. What happens if it works and Tedford moves on and he needs to reload at OC?

Sure there are no perfect coaches but you would know that by the hype the savior is getting. The slightest mention of one of the huge issues in his past and you are proclaimed a "hater."

There is something to that, it seems far too many people on here make up their minds about a player/coach and ignore anything that doesn't fit their predetermined opinion. For me I like Lovie, he seems like a good guy who has had early success when he was a DC & HC and I am thankful for what he did the first time he was in Tampa but for me the questions (that's all they are, nobody knows how this will work out) regarding the lack off playoffs his last 6 years and insanely poor offenses the entire tenure are too massive for me to jump on the bandwagon. I hope & pray he can answer them in a way that leads to Bucs success but based on past history I think this is a bad hire.

Hah - the hilarious part of the hiring of Lovie - and the belief it generated:The Glazers said they listened to [moron] fans when they decided to fire Gruden, because in 7 years he'd only gotten to the playoffs 3 times..and something about not being able to develop a QBAnyone know the number of years it took for Lovie to make it to the playoff's 3 times - here, I'll save you some time - it was 7.Wanna know the QB's that played/were developed by Lovie? Rex Grossman. Kyle Orton, Brian Greise, Jay Cutler Caleb Hanie and Josh McCown (he drafted the two worst)!Hilarious, if I weren't a fan of the team that just re-hired him. If you actually think Lovie will spend ANY time worrying about offense...then it's like the Rock used to say, "it doesn't matter what you think!"This is what clapping for mediocrity sounds like.

Zactly! Not sure how hard Lovie tried to get a HC gig last year. Sometimes taking a year off to just evaluate yourself and study the landscape from afar is a good idea...

After the disaster with Raheem Morris and the disappointment of Greg Schiano, me thinks the Glazers wanted to stop the bleeding first and foremost. Lovie was the "safe" choice; fan-friendly to the Bucs fans, been to a Super Bowl as a HC, etc etc... Personally, I didn't see ANY "perfect" slam dunk choices out there...    I think Lovie is smart enough to see his offense in Chicago was mediocre, and hiring Tedford shows me he's trying something new (for him) and innovative. I LIKE the sign at least he's trying to be a bit more BOLD on offense.  ;D
