Speakin of changing times... The metling pot concept has been replaced years ago with the tossed salad concept.This has been part of the required curriculum to obtain teaching certification in Florida, and I'm sure most other states, for many years now. The idea of each ethnicity or lifestyle group staying intact yet contributing to the overall culture of the country is considered they way we need to go and the teachers are taught to respect that. Unless of course if you're talking about people raised like you grandmother. Then we need to breed them out.

While my own definition of thug is not racially divided, there are instances in which certain terms are used by some specific to race in similar situations. NBA players who break out in a brawl are thugs. NHL players who fight 2 secs into the game are goons. I don't think it's a substitute for the "n" word as Sherman says.
