The word "colored" always reminds me of my grandmother. She used that term. That and "darkies". She was born in Georgia around 1913 iirc.
THUGA person that lives life without concern for the laws and rights of others. An unruly person that believes only Things theirf life is what matters.Happy Now. No way does that term have any racial background. I believe Al Capone was considered a thug....
Yes he was.........in the 1930s.let's be realistic and stick with the times. The origin is known but how many Al Capones have there been in the last 20 years? You're going back to a time where Alchol wasn't legal in this country. Things change.
You seem lost...... In no way was I referencing the things Capone did and the laws that he broke and challenged in his time, but simply the fact that THUG is not a racial term as it has been around since the use of the N-Word...... Can you see the light yet?
It's not always used as a racial term. I agree. But it is a lot of the time. And it's also not used in the same way as it was in Capone's days. Neither is the N word...I mean are you going to tell me that when you hear the word "colored" you automatically think of African Americans? Because that's how it was used in those same days that Capone was around.
Yes I do when it references a person (not of course if your atalking about crayons or the aspect of a television's capability)... when and where I was raised has allowed me the experience to make that connection. Any more questions?
Nice. That puts you clearly in the minority. Times have changed. Hopefully 1 day you will get on board and not stay stuck into thinking there are still men, women and colored bathrooms...
I of believe Cooper was called a drunk redneck on here. Probably worse than being called a "thug".
I think there shouldn't be ANY public bathrooms. Let the foolhardy venture as they may!

It was what it was.... I had hoped by now that America's melting pot would've bred out alot of the slang terms, but I guess I'll never live to see that day.... ::)

Speakin of changing times... The metling pot concept has been replaced years ago with the tossed salad concept. This has been part of the required curriculum to obtain teaching certification in Florida, and I'm sure most other states, for many years now. The idea of each ethnicity or lifestyle group staying intact yet contributing to the overall culture of the country is considered they way we need to go and the teachers are taught to respect that. Unless of course if you're talking about people raised like you grandmother. Then we need to breed them out.

You are an idiot, a real fool to be exact. Nothing in my post stated what you assume about my thinking, I wish you the best and a lot of maturity in your future. I will no longer reply to your stupidity, moving on.
Bill Romanowski was a thug .....happy ??
While my own definition of thug is not racially divided, there are instances in which certain terms are used by some specific to race in similar situations. NBA players who break out in a brawl are thugs. NHL players who fight 2 secs into the game are goons. I don't think it's a substitute for the "n" word as Sherman says.
I definitely think it's used as a substitute for the "n" word quite often. My ex, who is African-American, asked me this question a few months ago: When you hear a person described as a "thug", do you automatically think of them as being black? That was her litmus test for it.

You broke up with her over that? You cold hearted bestard.

Hahaha. I do have to admit, she was the best shower buddy I've ever had.
I don't get into all the racial shlt, especially here...but i think the question is a legit one. How come no one referred to Brady as a thug when he lambasted the official? With profanity, no less?
Is being called a thug a racial statement? In a word, "No."
looks like a thug to me
