How can it ever die if everything is considered racist? Hmmm...it's almost as if an agenda is in place. Nah...couldn't be that.

Because some of the things considered racist are indeed racist. That's the truth. The only thing that's false is this sense that nothing is ever done with racial intent. It's reality.

Right, nobody is denying that racism exists. Unfortunately that argument is usually presented in a way that implies it's from only one race towards another race. If we want to REALLY solve the racism issue, not just talk about it but really solve something, we'll start openly acknowledging the full extent of the problem. Until then, it's all a bunch of meaningless fluff.

Oh no no. It's definitely not just from 1 from to others. It's a universal thing. But unfortunately in this politically correct world we live in the issue is swept under the rug. That's why things like the Rooney Rule exist. That's why you have civil rights organizations and affirmative action. It's societies way to put a band-aid on an issue that's terminal. Instead of addressing it and acknowledging the full extent of a problem these things are put in effect to cover up those issues. Speaking specifically to football, the Rooney Rule is basically "We don't really know or want to say why minorities are passed over for head coach/FO jobs, but you must interview at least 1 minority to comply."

The real problem is the media, they perpetuate this the most. This issue creates the biggest stir, it draws the most attention to what they're selling. The media in this country is mostly liberal, therefore they target one race above all others when it comes to racism. That race, of course, is the white race. Most blacks and hispanics are liberal, I don't know if by "most" it's 51% or 80%, but I feel comfortable saying most. Considering this, the liberal media treats citizens in this country the same way politicians do, they tell them what they believe they want to hear. They promote guys like Sharpton, someone who shouldn't be influencing anyone, ever. If our media ever gets back to objectively reporting the news, there's a chance things will change. Unfortunately far too many Americans allow what they hear through the MSM to influence their opinions. Until that stops nothing will change. Watch this interview, I agree with everything Elder says here. Note what he says towards the end of the video about how he feels the liberal media manipulates the public. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vK5UkZrPcc

It's very rare that people under the age of 35 watch the news on television anymore. I think it's a generational problem more than anything. That whole "liberal as an insult" thing died about ten years ago to people my age and younger.

I can relate to Sherman's point.  People assume so much without zilch to back it up.  He talks some trash and he is automatically a thug. People don't like his choice of words and he is automatically a stupid thug. He has said, he tells people he is from Compton, and they automatically assume he grew up a gang banger.  People just jump to conclusions way too quickly without getting to know someone.  IMO.

Fact!!

I like the guy, and I like that he talks smack.  Doesn't seem a thug to me.

Whatever he had  to say about Crabtree he should have said it straight to his face. He made nice play, now show some dignity and stop acting the fool. Instead of carrying on as if he was the only guy that ever made a good play in a football game.

Richard Sherman isn't a thug. Having said that though, "Thug" isn't a racist term. That is just silly.

No matter how much you hope and pray that racism dies it will never ever die. It's gotten better, but that's something that will never die. I don't like it and I don't think like that, but there will always be people who do.

Maybe if everyone can grab someone of a different race and make babies.. do that for about 6 generations.. we can all be one big happy human race. Start hating on eachother for more legitimate reasons. Like rooting for another sports team.

Why do that when you can call out your rival on national TV like a millionaire immature 25 year old...... This guy is only 25?!

As far as just the news, I agree. I've jokingly told some of my older relatives that when they die off things will get better. They grew up in an era where information was presented in a more honest way, they fail to accept that things have changed. When having a discussion with my grandmother about the Zimmerman trial one afternoon, she began by saying "well I was watching the View earlier".......I wanted to puke. Instead of saying the MSM, I should have included all forms of media because that's what I meant. "Progressive" ideas such as abortion, gay marriage, Obamacare and countless other liberal ideas are all mostly supported by the most influential aspect of our society, the media. By media I mean everything, the news, movies, TV shows, music etc. People in this country of all ages have been conditioned to believe liberal ideas are the new majority. When everyone's favorite actor/musician/athlete/media personality supports these ideas, this isn't surprising. What people need to realize is that people in these industries are just like politicians, they're aware of what the new "normal" is, and they know it's career suicide to go against it. This is a little off topic but it's still relevant. For example when Obama came out and basically tried to pit the entire country against Zimmerman with this remarks, how many people questioned it? Not many that I was aware of. This was almost a year before the trial, way before the evidence had been presented, and our president is speaking up anyway? About a cause he knew nothing about? That's irresponsible, but people didn't question it because as has been proven in this very thread, any criticism of a non-white person is automatically considered racist. Check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfjB9-TKykM Perfect example of how ridiculous this racism issue has become. Jehmu Green states that it's not only black leaders that need to start speaking up about the problems in the black community, it's everyone that has the platform to do so. Yet what she seemed to forget is the very reason Rivera was having the segment to begin with is because of the back lash from the BOR comments. The solution is to have even white people express their opinions on the issue, but when they do it becomes a national story? Yep, pretty ridiculous. But where do you think this mindset comes from? Directly from what I said earlier in this post, the media (again, all forms) in this country is the most influential component of our society and it's almost entirely liberal. This is why white people can't talk about this subject, and the video I posted is a good example of that. Certain posters on this forum are also a good example of that, there's more than one that cries racism the instant a non-black person says anything critical, where do you think they learned this behavior from? A more honest media, in all forms, and enough people who TRULY want to start making some changes, is what it's going to take. As it stands right now there are far too many people exploiting this issue for their own personal gain, be that money, attention, or any number of selfish reasons. Too much fluff, very little substance.

The Oreilly-Limbaugh disciple hath come to spread the word about the liberal media. You aren't excited?

Do you ever have anything truly meaningful to add, to anything? If you want to believe my opinions are formed by media personalities, that's perfectly fine. It couldn't be further from the truth, but what does that matter to you, right? I just figured for once you'd like to show some kind of effort, you know...be useful for a change. I couldn't care less if you agree with what I say, but at least say why. Tell me why my views are wrong, and why yours are right. You come across as very naive, and these little quips of yours are nothing more than your attempt to include yourself in a conversation you lack the intelligence to truly take part in. You're hoping they make you look like someone who's so enlightened, you needn't bother with such petty issues. It does the opposite. Now, tell me why I'm wrong.

xD You can measure my intelligence via message board posts? Doubt it ;P. Son, I come here while making my hourly rounds of Facebook, Cracked, Reddit and Youtube when I'm not working. It's the best discussion platform for NFL news (to me).Why are you wrong? Because you take yourself so damn seriously. Do you really think anyone on this board CARES about your political rants? Are you so far up your own ass that you think anyone is actually changing their opinions due to your posts? No one has ever changed their mind on a political stance because someone insulted them on the internet. People are enthused by things like JDub's "scouting" and he's so gosh darn humble about it. This is why I rip on you. I'm allergic to arrogance.
