Even though the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense finished near the bottom of the league last season, there’s real optimism at training camp that this team is ready to turn the corner and improve their ranking under first-year defensive coordinator Todd Bowles, a man with a track record for building solid defenses.
The Bucs took the defensive rebuild seriously this offseason, too, using the majority of their draft picks on defenders, including prize linebacker Devin White out of LSU. And, while the Bucs parted ways with longtime veteran Gerald McCoy this offseason, they brought in another All-Pro defensive tackle in Ndamukong Suh, who could actually turn out to be an upgrade over McCoy.
