One absolutely accurate comparison between Dungy and Schiano is this team will go as far as the offense takes it. Schiano better find the answers to a more productive offense or he won't be coaching this team in the near future. Glazers had patience with Dungy allowing him 3 different OCs, but the results didn't change much so he was gone.
They had "patience" with Dungy because he won. Dungy's 1st two seasons he started 1-8, and then went 15-8 the rest of the way. He made the playoffs in year two. That tends to get you the benefit of the doubt. The comparison is completely and utterly asinine.
CBWx.2 "What talent would that be? Because I'm pretty sure that Mark Dominick had far more to do with it than Schiano, except for all those Rutgers fellas."All credit goes to Dom, all blame goes to Schiano. Nothing wrong with your logic, little fella.
Are we witnessing a Tony Dungy-style turnaround? It's possible, but while there's been real improvement, this feels more like a short-term blip than a real, fundamental turnaround for this franchise.
Yup
Which is the same thing everyone thought during Dungy's turnaround. It's why no one gave us a shot to beat this same Niner team in the season opener the next season...we all know how that played out.

Never sure where this 5 year plan on turning around teams came from. The list of guys who make major turnarounds in short time frames is massive but if Rutgers survives this year he will be able to parlay a .500 record into a 4th year - and watch all the bleating sheep talk about improvement next year if we hit 8-8.

All I'm crediting Dom for doing is signing free agents, which is what GM's do. If it were up to coaches to sign free agents, I'm pretty sure Raheem Morris would have signed more big names than Michael Koenen while he was here. You're crediting Schiano for the fact that we signed star talent the season he began, as if it was his decision, and not the front offices, to do it.Like it or not, Dominick was also mostly responsible for LaVonte David. This team was targeting David long before Raheem Morris' job was even in jeopardy. I even remember articles about him being posted on this here website months before Morris was fired.
The x factor was Ruskell scouting iirc
Agreed. Credit for the good players Schiano picked should go to Raheem as well as Dom. Any player that doesn't work out we'll blame Schiano. Excellent division of responsibility.

Not all. Just LaVonte. Never heard Barron or Martin's name being tossed around prior to the team drafting them, so give Schiano all the credit you want to for those guys, but David was on the radar long before he got here. Sorry if that offends your sensibilities.
"This team was targeting David long before Raheem Morris' job was even in jeopardy."Link or Liar.
Liar.
Not yet. Let him show a link from some poster on the board and try to convince us that means the team was scouting him.You gotta wait for it. This is about entertainment after all, there's no way you're going to get any honest debate out of him.
David was being compared to Derrick Brooks long before we drafted him. Seems kinda obvious that we would be interested in drafting him no matter who our coach was.
Agreed. But the goal here is to somehow give the credit to Raheem.
