Hearing all this talk that how Marinelli, a guy who isn't even available, is Smith's first choice and that he is the fallback option? He is a very good DC and we would be lucky to get a coach of his stature and reputation. He will be in high demand elsewhere. Just hire him already or I think we could seriously risk having neither.
If he's easily butthurt then sure it is. Either way he will be making more money than we do.
I have a feeling we are going to miss out on both if we keep if we keep messing arounf with Jerry Jones .Just sign Frazier and be done with it.
I'm sure he and Lovie have had conversations about Rod and what the plans are. Leslie said he should know in a few days what his future will be.

This^^^ Frazier is also dealing with just getting fired. I don't think Frazier is going to rush out and do anything. He needs to think about what is best for him now and what position sets him up to rebuild his reputation and a possible HC job in the future.
I'm pretty sure Lovie has discussed the possible scenarios with each like a mature adult would so there shouldn't be any reason to feel insulted plus Frazier will have suitors regardless.
Isn't Horton available? Think he could adjust and use 4-3 personnel or is he strictly a 3-4 guy?
I think Lovie wants to call his own defense.
Me thinks we want Rod Marinelli any way we can legally get him. We may even agree with Dallas to not sign Frazier until Dallas decides what they're gonna do with Marinelli and Kiffin... Whatever is going on likely gets resolved this weekend/Monday before Lovie's PC...
I think Lovie wants both of them. He has probably talked to them both and they know the plan. In order to get Marinelli from Dallas they would have to promote him to DC. Then in that case Frazier would come on as a position coach and assistant head coach. If Marinelli isn't able to get out of Dallas you will see Frazier as DC and then next year Marinelli would be hired as D-line coach and assistant head coach when his contract is up. Frazier probably knows he will be on the staff and is just waiting to see if they get Marinelli to join them.
Actually, I want them both.Frazier is a good DC (didn't realize how good until SnB showed me the light) who is a great fit with Lovie.Marinelli just wants to coach with Lovie. In any capacity. We need him coaching our Dline.
get outta my head steve
Can you imagine our D with those 3 coaches and whoever else they bring in to help them! Can't wait to see what happens.
I think any defensive coach would want to be DC here, and would be willing to wait for it. Would you want to be DC in Tampa with Lovie or in Dallas. We have good talent on defense, and a defensive head coach. That combination is going to make the DC and all defensive position coaches look really good, and put them in line for future promotions and HC opportunities.
I would want Marinelli more than Frazier because Rod won't be leaving in 1-2 years. I think it's reasonable to assume Frazier will get another shot at a head coaching gig some time in the future, especially if he is a DC somewhere and produces a top 10 defense. Marinelli has the stigma of the 0-16 season and I don't think he will ever get that opportunity again in the NFL. For continuity, Marinelli would be the better choice.
