Did we really just hire Dave Canales? How many guys turned us down? He’s never been an OC. This will be a year of Bucs coaches fighting for future jobs. Hopefully he’ll be a diamond in the rough.

@catherder - especially the OCs that turned us down. Hope Canales is a diamond in the rough. I’m thinking we ended up with the best we could get. If we don’t bring in a real starter and we just play Trask, we are definitely willing to throw the season for a top 3 pick next year. I’ve been with the Bucs since I was a kid in the 80’s and I hate going back to the bottom of the league.

Kliff Kingsburg have a job?
You may not be in the majority on this one. Combining a head coach who underperformed with one who just got fired and ran off to Thailand. If a guy goes to Thailand, I'm not calling him back to work for me right away. It seems like he needs a break. We just lost a QB who needed a break and got called back to active duty. That didn't go very well. Looks like Kingsbury may join the Texans if they'll take him, but he may want to take some time off to ponder how disastrous his Run and Shoot offense was in the NFL.
Which OCs who were interviewed, other than Monken, had previous OC experience? There was 11, so I'm not sure, but I don't remember any of them having any OC experience. I think we did well to get a guy who has worked for Pete Carroll for many years, was WR coach for Tyler Lockett and QB coach for Russell Wilson and Geno Smith. We could do a lot worse.
2023 will be a tank year. What do you need an anvil to drop on your head?
in a lost year better to go with a young up and comer. Remember, most head coaches come from coordinator jobs and most coordinator jobs come from assistant positions
If this was a superbowl year, yeah I agree, go experience. Since we are tanking, give this guy a go
"Tanking" is on purpose, "sucking" is not on purpose. You seem to think the Bucs will be doing the former rather than the latter. If so, then you will see some major moves with key players to get draft picks. I don't see them undercutting Bowles like that. Nobody can deny it's going to be a tough year because of the cap situation and the quarterback situation. A tank year? I don't think so.

debatable Dan over here. Ok instead of tank…let me rephrase it by saying “the Bucs will not make moves that signal they are trying to make the playoffs” next year
two moves in general will tell you
if Brady counts $35M against the cap this year instead of deferring a piece
If they don’t sign baker or jimmy g or better QB than them
if Brady counts $35M against the cap this year instead of deferring a piece
I think Brady submitting his retirement paperwork already means we can't spread the hit.
