If Mayfield balls out that might save Bowles job once again.  The idea that Bowles is gone even if he disappoints again may be wishful thinking.

This is why Licht MUST sign talent regardless of the state of Bowles moving forward.  Licht has to stack talent even if Bowles is here for the remainder of his contract.  Worrying about a lame duck year or year 1 of a new coaching staff is holding this team hostage from making moves to improve the overall talent of this roster.  Licht can not be timid and he must be aggressive.

I'm not as cynical about the season as most but that's probably because I've lowered my expectations.

I think best case is we win 10 games and a playoff game.

Worst case is 7 wins if we stay relatively healthy... Lower than 7 something catastrophic probably happened.

I don't have a ton of faith in Bowles but I do think logically he will be marginally better with competent LBs that can cover in space + Kancey back + Winfield playing better + a good draft for the defense.
