That's as good as explanation as any. If that's how it plays out and he's the most impactful of the bunch then that doesn't say much about the rest of the bunch. But it's all good. We need those rookies to fill in the gaps when the veterans get dinged up. Hopefully none too serious, but it's going to happen. That will determine which rookie will have the most impact. If Walker outplays Braswell then Walker plays more snaps. That is how it goes. Walker could make a big impact if he is used as a situational rusher on third downs and starts to generate sacks and fumbles. You are not putting Nelson out there on third downs and Diaby/Reddick have to come off the field at some point for a breather.
I understand that."Impact rookie" means Walker is going to be the biggest difference maker this season as a rookie.
I think hes' saying OF the rookies he is the one who could have the biggest impact, not that a rookie will be the biggest difference maker on the team
Lets look at last year's snap count
Diaby 70%
Nelson 51%
Braswell 29%
Reddick 2023 saw 74% of snaps in 2023
Roughly speaking, lets just say Diaby and Reddick each get 70% of the snaps. That leaves a total of 60% to divide between Walker, Nelson and Braswell. We aren't paying Nelson $5 mil a year to play special teams. The Bucs are expecting improvement from Braswell. He's not a bust yet... right? He has to get 20 or 30% of the snaps.
Question: How do you divide up that 60% between Walker, Nelson and Braswell so that Walker becomes the biggest impact rookie on the team? What am I missing?
yeah it certainly a "hot take" by Ronde....would think either of the defensive backs or Egbuka have much better odds and snaps to make a difference
yeah it certainly a "hot take" by Ronde
I think his way of saying "this guy might be more special than his status."
“Right now, I think we could plug-and-play (Emeka Egbuka) at any receiver spot,” Mayfield said, per ESPN.

yeah exactly, that's a good way to put it
taking him literally that he'd be the most impactful Bucs rookie...and Ronde is smoking dope....but if it's NFL bro to NFL bro type talk of him just trying to complement the guy than i get it.
Gator toast?
Todd Bowles: Desmond Watson is on non-football illness list because of his weight
Out on the practice fields, both first-round pick Emeka Egbuka and seventh-rounder Tez Johnson have made an impression with their respective play styles. Egbuka, who has primarily lined up in the slot, has taken advantage of the short-to-intermediate area by influencing coverage with tempo at the stem of his routes. The Ohio State product works back to the throw with ease and has been a reliable target for Baker Mayfield. Johnson has displayed his yards-after-catch capability and suddenness in the open field. His acceleration creates push downfield, and the pair have impressed the coaching staff.
"Emeka looked really sharp today running routes and it was not even so much the catches," said Head Coach Todd Bowles. "He was crisp on his route running coming out of breaks and is really starting to settle down and blend in. He is a very smart guy and Tez is as well. They play fast when they know what they are doing and Tez is learning the system very well and I am happy to see him keep progressing."
"Our No. 1 impact rookie, you might not believe this — it is David Walker," Barber said. "I didn't know anything about him until we picked him, and then you go and look at what he did... when you put the film on, you're like, 'Holy cow, this dude has the mentality.' It's kinda like this underdog mentality that makes people respect him."

"David Walker didn’t even make it to a padded practice."

maybe Ronde can make some flattery comments about Hurts, Penix, and Goff
The Ronde Curse!
pretty good mindset from Morrison
‘You can’t win and be scared to take the risk,” Morrison told ESPN. “So at the end of the day, you’ve gotta get out there — half the time, it’s never as bad as your mind makes it to be. Just out there — I think I’m getting the groove of things.
“I mean you see: One play I get done up, next play make a play. It’s just a sequence of events. I’m for the rollercoaster right now. I’m ready for it.”
From reading practice notes it looks like EE9 will be that rookie but I think Jacob Parrish might be a hidden treasure. We now have a type of CB that can lineup with those smaller quick twitch type of WR, plus he can blitz good from what I'm hearing. Him in the nickel and Smith at safety makes our defense that much better. Then you throw in Morrision and Hall as backup in case of Dean getting injured. We should have a good pass defense if they can stay healthy.

He's having a good camp.
Excited to see what he brings to the table.
