Several weeks ago, I thought facing the NFC East division winner would be a better pathway to winning at least one playoff game. Recently, Washington has four consecutive games.
Cin 9, Was 20
Was 41, Dal 16
Was 23, Pit 17
Was 23, SF 15
That Washington defense is hitting their stride. And with the return of solid play by QB Alex Smith, the defense and return of QB combo has pushed the their team game into the winning margins.
Washington's defense is ranked 3rd in passing yards, 10th in rushing yards, and 6th in points against averages.
To give these stats perspective, the Bucs' defense is ranked 20th in passing yards, 1st in rushing yards, and 11th in points against averages. That is a crazy comparison to think Washington has a better defense than the Bucs.
Their next three games are:
-
vs Sea
vs Car
at Philly
If QB Smith can play in the Seattle game, then we can see how strong Washington is as a team as a potential playoff team.
