Personally I believe WR is a need but not one that is in the top of half of needs that the team should focus on. Would it have been nice to find a replacement for Vjax this draft, Yes. I can honestly see WR being next year first round pick, unless there's a stud defensive player on the board based on where the team is picking next year. Would love for that to be in the 20s but a realistic goal would be the late teens. Looking at how the roster is constructed, the team is pretty set with receiving options. WR is not the only position that can catch the ball you know. Let's look at all the possible non-WR targets for the BUCS. Now I'm looking at players that I view on this roster as a pass catcher first. Let's face it, Stocker is less likely to catch a ball than he would being a blocking fullback on a play. Sims can run the ball but is more of a pass catching RB, even if it's out of the backfield.RB/FB:Charles Sims: The screen game is strong in this one. The dude has some pretty good hands and does some of his best work in the open field. Decent runner but a better pass catcher. When we lost Vjax during the season, I believed we should have just thrown Sims in as a WR, could do wonders as a Slot WR. Dan Vitale: When looking up Danny's highlight tape at Northwestern, all you see is him catching the ball lining up in the slot. It takes some digging finding him running the ball or blocking as a fullback. He has some of the nicest hands for a back and can be a great asset to the team for play action.TE: ASJ: Sadly this kid has been what feels like a permanent resident in the training room. Is there potential for him to be a beast, yes. But he has to stay out of the cold tub for that to happen.  Maybe the team is trying too hard to make him an all around TE instead of focusing on his strength which is catching. Maybe they should use him more as  Jimmy Graham while playing in N.O. There's no point trying to hope that he can become all pro blocker and pass catcher. Flex him out and create match up problems. Jameis sure does love him some TEs and that was evident early in the season when he hooked up with ASJ a few times. Here's the thing, I won't get my hopes up about the kid until he produces and changes his attitude in the process.Cameron Brate: Now this kid has potential. Okay blocker. Decent enough where teams would have to make a decision unlike when Stocker or ASJ is in. Stocker is probably blocking and ASJ is going for a route. Brate, while he still needs work, is probably the most complete TE on this roster from last season. There are plenty of ways to get the ball around without it being tossed to a WR. Maybe these other guys can develop into solid enough contributors in the passing game that WR becomes less important of a need. Let Jameis spread the love and force teams to have to pick their poison on who they want to focus their attention on. Next year is the year that the team should focus on WR/DL/DL/OL/TE/DB/DL depending on how the talent pool is looking and where the team is drafting.
