Carr will never start in the NFL. Not unless the 2nd string goes down with an injury. This drivel about him being something great is ridiculous. Let's please focus on other positions. That's how we will get better quicker. Glennon can play in the league and until falls below 60 percent completion percentage I say we give him a shot.
It's not very hard to stay above 60% completion percentage when you're the Captain Checkdown of the NFL. Glennon ranked dead last out of all qualifying QB's in YPA. That's right, he was the 37th ranked QB out of 32 teams. That screams Franchise QB?Source: http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/yardsPerPassAttempt/seasontype/2
Yes, but you need to look at the stats more. Glennon's % of throws under 10 yards was no more or less than guys like Brady, Luck and Rodgers who all have a higher YPA. Glennon's yards per completion and completion % greater than 10 years are all again right in line with the other QBs I listed. Translation, those passes aren't what is driving his YPA down. Where his yards per completion fall off massively is the under 10 yards routes - he is at least 2 yards less per completion under 10 yards than those other QBs. In other words, whereas Brady and Rodgers got some big plays from throwing underneath we got jack and spit from the short passes other than short gains.
I see Carr as another Alex Smith.Similar skillsets. They will both suck in the wrong system yet thrive under the right one. I think we run the right system for Carr to succeed,
Disagree, smith has a limited arm. Carr has a much higher upside arm. If Carr fails it won't be physical limits it will be mental. Smith's limits are dictated in many ways by a lack of arm.
Smith has small hands.
he has Rodgers level mobility.
You are on crack. Rodgers is one of the most mobile QBs in the entire NFL. WTH are you talking about?
His mobility is not much more than Glennon's. It's not a positive.
This is total crap. Sorry, just wrong. He is a lot more mobile and his ability to thrown on the run was noted several times this week. He's not a runner in the Cam sense but he has Rodgers level mobility. In other words, more than good enough.
Carr is not mobile - he's Mark Rypienesque.
He a smaller less mobile version of Blaine Gabbert. Exaggerated stats from a college spread offense will get him drafted early but he completely folds under pressure and will be a bust.

Yeah , this myth on this board that Carr has great mobility is pretty laughable. He rarely takes off running as his career rushing yards will tell you- less than 200 career against slow Mountain West competition. ...and it's not like he has a knack for being slippery and avoiding the rush in the pocket either. When he gets under pressure he usually just back pedals and then throws inaccurately off his back foot.
From CBS draft profile:Perhaps the most underrated element of Carr's game is his athleticism. Good vision, lateral agility and speed to elude. Typically keeps his eyes downfield and completes passes when receivers are able to break open late, but also shows the decisiveness to scramble when easy yards are available.Big blue:Athleticism will allow him to successfully scramble and even play a little read optionSB NationAt Carr's size, his athleticism is impressive. He's comfortable scrambling out of the pocket and making plays on the run. Carr is big enough to take some punishment in the running game and would seem to have the skill set to play some read option in the NFL if asked to do so, though he would be a bit limited in this area. Carr is also an accurate passer when scrambling out of the pocket.Trying to find something where he isn't atheletic. Please post people who seem to think this.
"Carr has excellent size for the position. He is listed as being 6’3 – 218 lbs. He has a good frame with good arm length. He is a very good athlete for the position with speed and quick feet. He reportedly has run a 4.58 40-yard dash. His play speed is easily in the 4.6 range"-Nation Football PostHe's got more than enough wheels

He isn't 6'3" or 218lbs so why would I believe the rest?

How about his game film? I hear about Glennon's "sneaky athleticism" too. Watch the film. He has very little escapability. When there is pressure he crumbles. He doesn't take off like Manziel. He doesn't move around and buy time like Bortles. He just back peddles and sucks like Glennon. If he is athletic, he sure does a good job of hiding it.
