The only reason to trade starters is to get some cap salary relief. It would be nice to be able to trade LT Smith. Many teams real struggle OVER TIME with any pick outside of a premium 1st round picks, so the notion of trading a key player for a pick has to be, statistically speaking, a more likely loser than turnaround plan. I am sure it works sometime, but overall and overtime maybe not? Don't know
SR -
"After an 11-5 record and a Super Bowl in 2020 and a 13-4 record and an NFC South title in 2021, I do think some complacency set in with the 2022 Bucs players. I think Todd Bowles recognized that and even alluded to that with his “some guys are living in Super Bowl fantasy land” statement after a 20-18 loss at Pittsburgh. He’s very dialed in to his team, and I think Bowles’ statement about the Bucs’ culture needing to change is right on point. No one should be happy with an 8-9 record and a first-round loss in the playoffs.
Some Bucs players thought they could show up and win in 2022 and that it would be just like 2020 and 2021 again. It doesn’t work that way in football. Each year, a team develops its own identity. The Bucs lost some powerful voices in the locker room when Jason Pierre-Paul and Ndamukong Suh departed, and the presence of Pro Bowl center Ryan Jensen, the fire-starter on offense, was missed in the locker room and in the huddle. At the end of the season, there were 18 players on the roster that didn’t play in Tampa Bay in 2021. That’s over one-third of the team, which is an indication of how quickly a team’s culture can change from year to year.
The 2022 Bucs were a team full of aging veterans and really young players."
Trading Evans is lunacy. He and Godwin still make one of the better WR1/2 combos in the league even if they're not burners.
Let's trade Devin White. I could get behind that.
yeah Todd Bowles wants to change the culture alright
it wasn't that he inherited a team that was favored to win every game, two years removed from Superbowl triumph and one year from a 13 win reg season campaign; and even with his best efforts, the team looking terrible all year managed to make the playoffs.
what does he want to change the 3 in a row playoff culture too? the 2009 to 2019 Bucs? because that's exactly where the fuck we are heading under him.

Gruden never really turned the culture around with the 2002 Bucs and they had HOF leadership
not defending Bowles but the spotty defensive play seems consistent with the belief wins would just appear. I mean there was an actual controversy over the leader, White, loafing on plays
Trask,
You should change your screen name to Biden Force.
Equally Garbage as 'tRasK foRce".
Apart from pennywise who has an axe to grind, hope everyone enjoyed the ride and is thankful for what Brady brought this franchise

Sure I'll think about that when I post on a politics board. Thanks for the idea.

no one can support grudens roster construction but he had the team vying for playoffs in 5 of his 7 years, making it 3 times with a superbowl. Much more successful than the 10 years following him. Maybe it was his preparation that had post 2003 talentless teams competitive? We aren’t going to argue that Bowles is better coach than gruden now are we? Lol

oh no that's not what I meant at all. I just meant that even someone like Gruden had the team drop way off the year after the SB and that was a team LOADED with serious leaders
and then after that, I mean you say "vying for playoffs" 5 out of 7, they were actually bad but always built around the idea that they were good at the core, just needing a little tinkering
7-9
5-11
11-5 but out of playoffs immediately
4-12
9-7
9-7 but 3rd in NFC South
They then had to truly blow it up, but those were some serious underperforming years WITH the belief always that they were just a couple players away
Anywa, the main point was that the Bucs need a "change of culture" in 2003 and even Gruden couldn't deliver it and really not until the 3rd year after the SB did that team turn it around and win

White will see better football. Evans has seen his best. Belichick's method - unload earlier than later. Evans deserves it as well. Bills could use him, and Dallas could use him. He'll squander his last couple of seasons in the cellar NFC South. Time to tear the bandaid off.....

Some players should retire as Bucs. Evans is one of them... if he wants. We shouldn't be looking to unload a guy like him. I'll trade other vets like Donovan Smith or Leonard Fournette or White. I don't unload cornerstone players and icons. Evans is also playing at a very high level. He's still good for 10+ TDs per year in an offense that is well designed and the plays are called intelligently.
Maybe it's just sentimentality, but I don't want to see Lavonte David playing for another team either.
This is a business
You don’t trade fan favorite future HOF evans. Let him retire a buc. Same with resigning David until they totally drop off Ala brooks in 2009

that's what losing franchises do - that sentimental crap is for losers
