The ONLY QB's I like in the first two rounds are Bridgewater and Garoppolo. Both are great fits for Tedford IMO.Everyone else is fools gold (Manziel, Bortles) or a 3+ round (Carr, Fales) developmental prospect.
No thank you. Manziel, Teddy, or wait and snag McCarron, Galapagos islands, or roll the dice on Murray or Logan Thomas late.Take Watkins if the two QBs are gone
Tedford has said that WR screens and bubbles are an extension of a running game. So, Carr being proficient in that along with other misdirection plays is what Tedford is looking for. Shovel passes, traps, sweeps, play action, roll outs. Carr has the mobility that Glennon simply lacks (eg running to his left).
I still don't buy all this "can't read plays" bull. I think Carr's skillset fits Tedfords offense like a glove and as long as he has an a good senoir bowl, won't mind taking him at 7 (assuming JFF and TB are gone)
Yeah how Carr fairs at the senior bowl will determine his future.
Matt Miller ?@nfldraftscout 4mCarr isn't just the best QB here. He's the best player here. Absolutely looks the part of franchise QB.
They were just saying on ESPN Insiders that Derek Carr might be the best QB of the ENTIRE draft. wtf?? Living in CA, I see a lot of him. He's definitely one of the better QB's on the West Coast, when playing the likes of Hawaii, Idaho, and Cal Poly. But you saw what happened when he played a legit school like USC, with weeks to prepare. The wheels fell off. Dude was rattled and could not do anything outside of throwing to the sidelines.Just say no, especially at 7. For Christ's sake… go Watkins, OL, DE, or LB… or trade back.

How is this possible? I saw a similar report moments ago!

o.O Wow....
Matt Miller @nfldraftscout 2mThey got some great meth down here in Alabama, BTW
The biggest knock I'm seeing on Carr is his ability to handle pressure (other than that whole dink'n'dunk thing). Senior Bowl has vanilla defense rules. Showcase game could be fool's gold.
In reality, I like Carr. He reminds me of a young Phillip Rivers.

Thats nice, but we have a young Peyton Manning here, so..
touche, salesman
I love how everyone says not at 7!, Chris Ponder went top 10 for crying out loud lol, if a team views someone as their guy they are going to take him. Carr already is a top 20 pick, if he has a good week and combine he is definitely going top 10. Teams want to see him throw more than what Fresno St. limited him to. He is athletic and has a cannon of an arm and has a quick release. He does fit Tedfords offense and if you ask me is not the same as Glennon at all. Word from yesterdays practice is he was easily the best qb prospect out of his group including Jimmy G. If Tedford wants him I have no problem with it and trust this regime with finding their guy over any decision the last regime made.
And that was a great pick.
Ponder was a game manager at Florida State. There was nothing special about his game honestly that made people think he was going to be any better than what he was.
