I'm probably in the minority, but I'm not 1,000% sold on Hardy as an elite pass rusher. From what I saw he got a lot of his sacks rushing from DT in nickel packages and he also feasted on the worst offensive lines he faced. He still deserves a lot of money just for that, but I'm not sure I'd put him with the elite of the elite edge rushers.
agree, i would like to have him, but isnt he more of a LE? when i think of hardy i sure dont think of simeon or any other speed rusher. i want a real speed rusher.would defiinteily be on board with getting donald and sam from what ive heard.
I can't see the Panthers letting him walk, and he wants to stay there. The Panthers have loads of jack tied-up in their RB position that with one swift cut they could probably free up enough money to resign hardy.
I can, they are already paying Johnson almost $13 mil a year. They cant just cut their RBs. With the way their contracts are structured they wouldnt save any money by doing so...their cap hits are less than the amount of dead money their contracts are responsible for...which means they arent getting cut.
I did not know that. whoops for them.

not only that, but I think he got like half of his sacks in the last two weeks of the season

Here's the thing - they have to keep their RBs or face a massive cap hit. IRCC, Stewart would cost them $16 million if they cut him. They are under the cap (better than us by a few million) but the issue with them (I think) is that there's some talk about needing some of that money to extend Cam. They also have Jordan Gross up.

I sort of think the same thing, but he's very strong two-way player at a minimum.

And I realize every player gets cheap sacks, but I know at least one of his sacks week 17 against Atlanta for some unknown reason they had Tony Gonzalez blocking him one-on-one.
Trade Revis and his $16 million cap hit.
That won't buy us anything. I just don't get why people think it's a good move.
Hardy would be a great acquisition imo. He brings a nasty attitude and he's just hitting his prime.

It won't? Pretty sure it gets us some great draft picks and an additional $16M in cap space. With that $16M we could get Hardy and Tillman. Do you really think Revis is more valuable than those two players combined?

The "great draft picks" part is an assumption. Until someone approaches us with a trade offer, its best to assume he wont be traded. Cutting him is also not going to happen.
I don't think anyone is suggesting we simply cut him. That would be idiotic.

I've seen it suggested, not much but its out there. The trade part doesnt make much sense to me either...not from our standpoint, but from a practical one. Who is going to trade us for him and fit his $16 mil under their cap?
We could keep Revis, McCoy and Hardy all making 13+ million. We won't have to give a big contract to a QB for quite a few years. By the time that happens, Revis could be close to retirement/declined and on some other team, same with VJax. There's also a lot of expendable people on the roster making a good bit of money like Koenen, Nicks, Joseph, Penn and Goldson. It's just a matter about whether the Glazers want to spend closer to the cap. As big as Revis' salary is, he still earned it more than Nicks, Joseph, Koenen and Goldson combined.

I don't think a trade is likely either, but it is possible. In the OP of the other thread we are going back in forth in....there are several scenarios. I think it's the Jags, Raiders, and someone else.
I'm all for the kraken, I just hope we don't get a derkin instead...
