We need a WR who gets YAC.....makes people miss and gets the extra yards.Speed and YAC .... a huge element that is missing and limits our offense.

In 2012 Vjax was the 9th best WR at YAC. http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/yards-after-the-catch/2012/ This year he was way down the list. http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/yards-after-the-catch/2013/ That list doesn't tell me very much in terms of who is talented. Brandon Marshall and Larry Fitzgerald are low on the list while Kendall Wright is high on the list. A lot of it is scheme dependent, and a few plays here and there could also skew the results. It's not like Golden Tate is any faster than our receivers. If anything it just tells me that we need to get the RBs more involved in the passing game, because those are easy yards that are being left on the field.

This is where the Bucs and the Red Board have it all wrong. If you have a need, you fill it in free agency. You shouldn't be counting on rookies to fill needs. There are circumstances where you can fill a need in the draft, such as drafting Jake Matthews early or a top rated guard in one of the first few rounds. But most positions are complicated and you never know how long it's going to take a rookie to get it. So let's just move on from the eternal rebuilding that Dominik had us in and get realistic. Look at what Elway did in Denver. Study it. That is what you want to do. Fill holes with professionals and draft BPA (that fit your system).

Interesting point. It was either Licht or Lovie who said they wanted to get their Star players from the draft. That kinda implies using FAs to fill immediate needs, but these FAs don't have to be Stars. Patriots do this a lot...
