Twelve players have gotten a visit from the Turk, and two more will either today or tomorrow. Between Thursday and Saturday, 20 more players will also be seen by the Turk.
Who is the Turk, you may ask? He is the assistant coach in every organization who is designated to track down released players and deliver the dreaded message, "Coach wants to see you in his office. Bring your playbook with you." If a player gets that message, they know it's over.
The fourth preseason game is a little interesting to watch. Guys who are fighting for roster spots will go all out in order to make one last impression. These guys need to remember a couple of things:
1. If you survive the initial final cuts, that doesn't mean you'll be on the opening day roster.
2. Even if it's unlikely that the team you are on will keep you after this last preseason game, it's important to remember you are auditioning for other teams as well.
Last year, Adam Humphries put on quite a show in the final preseason game against the Dolphins. That performance earned him a roster spot. I wonder if someone can step up like that on Thursday.
Just a few Monday morning thoughts. Have a good one everyone.
