There are articles saying Dean is a post-draft cut candidate?
Not sure about that, but assuming he stays do we see a career year for him BECAUSE he's playing for $ and has some competition?
That would be great news. In the Commander playoff game he and McCollum did a pretty good job containing McLaurin. I think McLaurin had one deep pass early on Dean, but then Dean also had an endzone stop.
He can play when he's healthy and when he wants to ($$$)
Not sure why we would cut him unless we needed his money for another big move
we seem pretty set on offense. There’s a few edge guys still out there but honestly I think we should keep dean.
if anything the two draft picks make McCollum replaceable in the offseason when he is looking for a new contract
Zero chance we cut him. Hes slated to start, we’re a BETTER team when he plays (check our record with him out last year) and we have lots of guys around him either coming back from injury or unproven. Last year secondary was a triage unit. We don’t need to make it thinner back there

Not sure about a career year, but he’s got to know he’ll be hitting FA regardless of how well he plays.
So, he should be well motivated and incentivized.
And, with an infusion of young talent in the secondary, Bowles has ZERO excuses not to play Dean the way he should be (press, man).

while it's more likely we get more of the same with Dean, penciled in for 4 games missed; if he does have a career year, why would the Bucs move on from his cap hit in 2026? Just let him play it out his final year particularly if playing a pro bowl level?
now, i think most of us were surprised to see Dean still on the roster and not a repeat of the Carlton Davis fate a year ago but now that he is here and we dont need his funds for anything else, we should definitely keep him this year
you mentioned "wrong" from a Bucs potentially not resigning McCollum next year and from a youth perspective would agree that Zyon over Dean makes more sense but with Morrison and Parrish in the fold, one would think one of McCollum or Dean is gone next year and Dean likely the better CB particularly if he improves in this hypothetical thread.
PFF graded McCollum 54th out of 222 eligible CBS whereas Jamel Dean graded 26th.
to throw 16-20M at Zyon? i dont know. let's see how he does this year.

In the Commanders playoff game Dean is in press man in the 1st quarter when he gives up a 35 yard pass to McLaurin. if you wnat to see him WHIFF on Mcl,aurin at the line, its right here

Two series later, McCollum is in press man against McLaurin and he almost picks the ball off, forcing a field goal.
A couple series later (beginning of the 3rd quarter,) Dean is again in press man when he knocks down a TD pass thrown to McLaurin
The very next series, Dean is again in press man BUT gives MCLaurin a free exit at the line and a completion for 17 yards and, of course, is INJURED
The next series, Hayes is in for an injured Dean and he gives up a TD to McLaurin. Hayes is playing OFF coverage standing in our EZ lol
its almost like injuries matter . .

I would love for Dean to be a reliable, hard working polayer, but he seems the opposite and if he balled out this season that might sort of prove it.
I think Dean is playing for his next contract, but it may not be with the Bucs?
