I just got done watching some youtube clips of him, and came away extremely impressed by this guys sick athleticism and toughness. He is an elite athlete without question. Now unfortunately a lot of his highlights are kick returns, but he showed enough ball skill and come up and hit ya plays that I think he would be tough to pass up on at 19 if we feel safety is deserving of a first round pick. He looks like a difference maker to me. But I defer to some of the depth of knowledge on the board.
Now I know some of you had commented on how he lacks a position and that he really did not play safety that much at Michigan and taking a chance on a first rounder without a position and with only 1 interception is a risky play. I watched the highlights of hooker and adams and think that Peppers may be better than both. (Adams can hit for sure, and Hooker does have some ball skills)
From one NFL scout ""He's better than Jalen Ramsey, so there's that," the scout said. "He's a safety, but you can match him up if you want. He can take on the better tight ends, Jordan Reed man to man. You can put him in the slot. You can blitz him, play him deep. He's going to be a difference maker for a defense.''
Isn't this the type of player that would play on a lot if not all defensive packages? A guy with decent size (209 pounds) who can run, cover, make a big play and hit?
I defer to the smart guys in the room. To me this guy looks great on tape.
