The falcons take chances and normally stay more competitive than us (at least the last few years). We get a "high" pick, and we use it on a freaking safety.

Hence the old gm is gone

I thought he wanted to be the first pick in the draft

But he wants the Falcons to mortgage their future to move up and get him.

Wouldnt put it past them, they did it once for Julio Jones

They also did it for Vick.  It's  a very short sighted approach to improving your team.  It's not basketball.

So is the new gm going to jump and take clowney (not that I want him here now) or a qb?Sounds like another "bpa" guy to me. Say hello to carr, because it's "safe" and not "wasteful."

Agree.  I would draft him in a heartbeat. A much safer pick than JFF, Teddy or Bortles, or any QB.But unfortunately, I have already come to terms, there is no way in hell he becomes a Buc. He will be long gone by #7.  I wouldn't be surprised if he goes #1 overall.

I expected him to be stronger on the bench than he was

I hope they do trade up for him. It will just use up more of their draft picks and set them back even further. Clowney is a bum that is being overhyped my the media hyperbole machine. Perfect example is a tweet from ESPN earlier. It said "Clowney just busted out 21 reps!!! #beast" when the average for defensive linemen is 24 reps. Smh. The guy comes through unblocked and cleans a RBs clock and all the sudden he is jesus in cleats. What a joke. The kid is a bum and he'll give full effort occasionally when he feels like it. As long as he doesn't end up in Tampa, I don't care where he goes.

Thank you. Hopefully Lovie Smith and Jason Licht share our perspective.

Why?  Because he would like to stay close to home? Can't blame him for that.  IIRC, his girl is a Hawks cheerleader.

You see Dee Ford's comments:“People are just looking at the fact that he’s a physical specimen,” Ford said. “It really don’t matter. Honestly, if you watch the film, you know, it’s kind of like, he plays like a blind dog in a meat market, basically.“I play with a lot of technique. I watch a lot of film. These are the things that make you a great player, and these are the things that I do, and it shows up, know what I’m saying?“This is all my opinion, you know what I’m saying? And you can see these things. You can see these things on film. Go watch the film. You know, it’s a lot of intangibles that you need to have to be a great player. You can’t just look at the fact that he’s a physical specimen. I think the NFL should have learned by that by now.”

Freeman was a physical specimen also. And we all know how that turned out. He "looked" the part though.

There was always something that rubbed me the wrong way with Clowney. Normally draftees say they'll play for whoever or choose the team with the #1 pick. Someone of Clowney's caliber be aiming at the #1 pick and not the Falcoons. I'm definitely warming up to Mack even more now. With a deep wr class I'd take Mack over my favorite player Sammy Watkins.
