Both are going to be franchise LT's, who would you pick and why?Do you like Robinson's power and freakish athleticism for 330lbs?Or a technician with great blood lines like Matthews?
Matthews because of his pass pro abilityRobinson is a monster in the run game but needs polish in pass pro. Auburn didn't pass the ball near as much as TAMU and when they did it was quick stuff
Robinson.. Matthews is going to be a right tackle in the NFL.
Robinson. As Jdub mentioned to me yesterday, teams dont pass rush Texas A&M as much as the have the DEs play contain. I defended Matthews and argued against the point but after more review today he was correct for the majority of the games. If you want a more fair review of Mathews pass protection than youll have to look at 2012 film. They rushed the passer for real, he played RT was solid but struggled at times and not nearly as good as Joekel or Robinson(this year). Ive personally moved Mathews to third because of this behind Robinson and Lewman.
@AdamSchefter: After watching Auburn OT Greg Robinson, some NFL scouts have compared him to former Cowboys Hall-of-Fame Larry Allen.
You could make a decent case for either.Robinson could be a beast and could be a top 5 LT within a few years...or he could end up being just average. He definitely is the better physical specimen.Matthews is very versatile and could possibly come in and play G is the Bucs decided to hold onto Penn and Dotson at LT/RT. Then the Bucs wouldn't be in a rush to push out Penn, and would(presumably) have their LT of the future post-Penn.
I prefer Taylor Lewan to both. More athletic. More upside. Nastier in the trenches, tough guy. And a real leader.
idk. It's definitely not scientific, but the douchebag factor seems extremely high with Lewan. Like off the charts. Would have to do a more indepth study of his tattoos. Seem douchey. Just his face. Playing for Michigan. Yeah I don't need to look any deeper. Fuck that dude.
Robinson... I'll take Freakish athleticism over the technician
I would be happy if either fell to us, but if I had to choose it would be Matthews. He doesn't have Robinson's ceiling but I think he has a much higher floor. Robinson could be all-pro or he could be awful. I think Matthews is pretty safe to finish his career with his share of probowls, but he may not go every year. For a top 10 pick I would go the safer pick. Gamble in the later rounds. Some people on here still haven't forgiven Dom for his gamble on Bowers in the 2nd even though it was a good gamble at the time and we all agreed with it. Missing on a top 10 pick would really hurt the new management.
I'm not sold on Matthews or Lewan. I don't think they are bad, but I'm not convinced they are top 10 material. Greg Robinson is my guy. He is a freaking man beast.
Robinson in five years. Matthews tomorrow. Both could help us. Although I think our eyes are set on the defensive side unless Watkins falls to us.

he belongs in the conversation.
I think it comes down to 2 scenarios:Draft to replace Penn nowDraft to replace Penn in a year or 2's timeIf we are drafting to replace Penn now then Robinson, if we are keeping Penn for a year or longer then Matthews as we can make use of him as a G until Penn goes.

But let's say it's Joseph and not Nicks that is out. You gonna put him at RG and hope eventually he's your LT?
