Missed this in the "Prospect Bucs Are Targeting" article over the weekend, but does anyone follow Tennesee or Baylor football?
• NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Baylor wide receiver Jalen Hurd in for a visit. Hurd used to be a running back at Tennessee, but transferred to Baylor for his senior season. Hurd started ahead of former Volunteers running back Alvin Kamara, rushing for 899 yards and five TDs as a freshman and then 1,285 yards and 12 TDs as a sophomore.
The 6-foot-5, 226-pound Hurd has good hands and was moved to wide receiver in his lone season with the Bears, catching 69 passes for 946 yards and four touchdowns in 2018. Hurd also rushed for 209 yards and three touchdowns on 48 carries (4.4 avg.) as an occasional running back at Baylor. Hurd, who has 4.66 speed, figures to be a Day 3 selection.
What do we know about this kid? At 6'5" his days of playing RB are over but he DID start over Alvin Kamara for two years and that type of sophomore performance is something to take note of. My assumption is that he continued to grow and Tennesse wanted to move him to receiver and he then transferred to a program with a more competitive passing game.
I'm just theory crafting here, but as a late selection what kind of potential could a former good RB have at WR in Arian's offense? Dare I say something along the lines of Anquan Bolden as a receiver? Incredible run after the catch ability?
