91.8

77.9

The first number is JW's Passer Rating on 2nd down in 2016.

The second is 2017.

As good as Jameis was on 1st down in 2017, he was just as bad on 2nd down (that paltry 77.9 was with his absolutely stellar play on 2nd down at the end of the year in the Atlanta and Carolina games...subtract them out and you get a truly horrific 2nd down Passer Rating for the other 11 games). Here is a look at the kind of play that we need from Jameis on 2nd down this coming year.

2ND & 5 AT TB 23 |12:46
(12:46) J.Winston pass incomplete deep left to M.Evans.

Ok, we'll have 3rd and medium even without a completion here, so this is as good of a time as any to go for the throat. He has Mike 1v1 against C1M. The single high Safety can't get over top of the route and Mike ends up (with a lot of physicality between both players) getting on top of the CB. Jameis's throw_barely_misses him for a big play down the field...half a footballs length.

Sure he could have gone to other side (Unbalanced with a Flanker wide, so basically Trips) and hit Cam on the quick Arrow for a catch-and run of 3+, but this is the time when you take a shot on 2nd down.
