Jameis is the true dual threat in this class. This is simply because he can run AND throw.Marcus is a great athlete, but playing QB doesn't require elite athleticism. Just look at the top QBs in history. Brady, Manning, Marino, Elway, Favre, etc. Those guys weren't the athletes that Marcus Mariota is.But they will be considered greats at the position for centuries to come.Marcus is not a dual threat QB anymore than Newton or Kaepernick.Much like Cam and Colin, Marcus is limited in his abilities as a passer. If running a 4.5 qualifies a person to be a #1 pick why didn't Antwaan Randle-El play QB for the steelers for a decade and a half?Marcus is fast. He can throw better than the average FOOTBALL player. He can NOT throw better than the GOOD QBs in this league.Show me one game where he took his team and put it on his back.I can show you a MYRIAD of games in which Jameis Winston did just that!Marcus is a product of a lightning offense. This said, if Winston stayed at FSU I would consider Marcus at #1, although it would be a bit of a reach.Mariota has a lot of upside. It's not as if he CAN'T become a solid pocket passer. The fact of the matter is that it takes time to develop those skills.Playing for Oregon might have seemed like a great choice at the time but the truth is that being a Duck hurt him a lot.Instead of developing those skills in college he will have to take, AT MINIMUM, two seasons before he can play in the NFL at a productive level.Granted, he can rely on his feet quite a bit in those first couple of years, but what happens when defenses start taking the mobility away from him? Defenses are going to force Mariota to stay in the pocket and beat them with his arm.He will fail at that for at least two seasons.Jamies on the other hand, can stay in the pocket and carve up defenses. He knows where to put the ball, he understands NFL OPEN. Rather than play for a spread option offense in college, Jameis made a GREAT decision that any intelligent QB would make. He played for FSU's pro style offense. He developed the skills necessary to play on this level and that is why he is our guy at #1.Once again, it's not that Marcus CAN'T become great. It's just that Winston IS ALREADY great. Why pass up on a guy who can already dominate at the NFL level, for a guy who MAY be able to dominate a number of years for now?Take Jameis, make him the undisputed face of the franchise. Put all the pressure possible on Jameis. As clutch as he was in college, I guarantee with the NFL pressure around him he'll overcome it all and be a top 5 passer for the next 15 years.Rant over...
