It seems likely that we were going for OL Cody Ford in round two, but didn't foresee the move up by Buffalo to snipe him (or we just weren't willing to move).

However, I have to wonder if the Under Pressure vs Kept Clean difference for Jameis plays a role with this regime not spending more resources on the OL (that and the fact that (a) this regime historically didn't spend resources on OL and (b) didn't develop the OL they spent resources on).

Jameis has played relatively (compared to the league's QBs) well under duress (a few seasons at 84 and change Passer Rating, one at 70, one at 63 and change). Interestingly (I've pointed this out in the past and hypothesized why I think this is), he has struggled (compared to the league's QBs) when playing in a clean pocket throughout the course of his career. The below are his league rankings when kept clean (QBs with 10 or more games played):

KEPT CLEAN

# 27 in 2018
# 16 in 2017 (Rodgers, Watson, Garappolo, Foles not included due to not enough games)
# 21 in 2016
# 21 in 2015
