Here comes Jake Plummer out of retirement!
Who could he have acquired at QB this offseason that was better than Palmer ?Would you have preferred he went the stupid Bills route and reached for a scrub in the 1ST round like Manuel ?You have to play the hand you are dealt and seems to me he made the best of a less than ideal situation .
Yeah, you don't always have good options.

He could have drafted Dalton, Wilson, or Kaepernick and never been in that situation....but they rolled the guys like Kolb, Skelton, and Hoyer instead. My only hope is that since he wasn't the actual GM there, that wasn't his call.
Dalton ? He was going to make the Cards so much better than Palmer ? Dalton blows. Those other guys were passed on in 3 rounds by every team , so obviously the rest of the league didn't know how good they were either. How are you gonna hold that against Licht ?

Lol...one full day on the job and already having to make excuses.. :P
I don't think you can draw much of anything from a mid level personnel guy's time with another team. Mark Dominik essentially cut his teeth under Rich McKay and Bruce Allen and the highest pick either of them every used on a QB was a 2nd for Shaun King and then Dominik used his first ever 1st round pick on a QB. Thomas Dimitroff came up in the Belichick system and rather than look for the next Tom Brady in the 6th round, he also used his first ever 1st round pick on a QB. Every guy is his own person and every year with every team presents new challenges and new opportunities.
One of the better FRG posts I've seen in some time.
Those other guys were passed on in 3 rounds by every team...
Wilson was passed on for two rounds, taken in the 3rd. Dalton and Kap were passed on for one round...both taken at the top of the 2nd. So none of them were passed on for 3 rounds. The other teams in the league weren't depending on Hoyer, Kolb, Skelton, Lindley, and Derek Anderson to lead their team....so it doesn't matter what other teams did. I understand nobody knew how good these guys would be, but the Cardinals were in a situation where you have to wonder why they would pass on Dalton, Wilson, and Kap. Like I said, I just hope Licht wasn't the one making those decisions.
Well he wasn't , of course ...all he could do was put grades on guys and hand those grades to the coach and gm. After that it was in their hands....and Dalton is not an elite franchise QB , not sure why you keep using him as an example of an offensive cure-all. Kap and Russell are a notch up, and great playmakers , but it is also starting to look like both them have serious limitations in the passing game. The best thing to do is look at overall drafts , and how good they were , to determine if this guy was putting together a strong board with good recommendations . It's not fair to single-out individual players he did not choose , because he was just a personnel director . He didn't make the final choice. Do the team's he was a part of draft well overall ?? That's the question . I think that answer is yes.

I'm not. You are putting words in my mouth. He was a good prospect and while not elite, he sure as sh!t is better than anything the Cardinals have had since Kurt Warner retired. So again, you have to wonder why the Cardinals didn't draft any of these QBs.In his first year there, 2009, there was no QBs to be drafted. Can't hold that against him. In 2010, they drafted John Skelton in the 5th. Not much in the way of QBs that year to be fair....but Skelton? In 2011 a bunch of idiots drafted bunch of bad QBs early. (Locker, Ponder, Gabbert) The Cardinals resisted the urge to reach for a QB and took Patrick Peterson even though they had nothing at QB. Kudos for that...but why not move up a few spots and take Dalton or Kaepernick in the 2nd? Ryan Mallet in the 3rd? Tyrod Taylor in the 6th? Greg McElroy in the 7th? Seems odd they were so horrible at QB but didn't think any of those guys were worth drafting. Didn't draft any QB that year. In 2012 the Cardinals were again completely void of a legitimate starting QB....yet they didn't go after Tannehill, or take a shot on Brock Osweiler in the 2nd. No Nick Foles or Russell Wilson in the 3rd. No Kirk Cousins in the 4th.....but they took Ryan Lindley in round 6. Wth?Last year the QB class was very weak, so they decided to go out and trade for Carson Palmer. He was pretty solid, but he isn't great and he is 34...so it was a very short term answer.....yet they didn't draft a single QB. Apparently they weren't as impressed with Glennon as so many here seem to be. They were sitting at the top of the 4th when the Eagles started the QB run by taking matt Barkley. They could have used a 4th to take a shot on Ryan Nassib, Landry Jones, or Tyler Wilson....but nope. No attempt made.Just makes you wonder how important a QB is to Licht. To pass on all those QBs when you have absolutely nothing at QB....and the only two QBs you do take are garbage from the 5th and 6th round, it's odd. We don't really know how much he had to do with how players were graded or deciding who to take....but it is worrisome to me. Seems like we will be signing an old vet and rolling with Glennon.

Licht wasn't calling the shots in the draft, he was just a personnel guy.
Also, why didn't any team draft Wilson or Kap in the first round?Pointless and baseless premise
Yea. He pretty much said x guy was good or not, and they listened, or not...Tough to blame or fame, when you don't know the intricate details though.
