Adam Schefter ?@AdamSchefter 2mNew Buccaneers GM Jason Licht is signing a four-year deal with a team option that puts his tenure right in line with Lovie Smith's.
I think he was nomadic because he was ultimately seeking a GM position, he's finally getting his shot, and I feel good about it!
If Licht can make our drafts like ARI last year, I feel good. To my knowledge all the picks they made helped improve them.
Honestly if we were going this route we might as well have kept Dominik. This seems like a blind stab in the dark by the Glazers hoping for good results. What I see is a guy who has not kept the same job or stayed in the same city for more than 3 years. To me that smells of a guy who has more of a short term mindset as oppose to long term.
Oh lord
He found Ellington and was probably frustrated as hell at the way they used him.

Lmao man. It's called moving up the ladder and finding good opportunities. EVERY person with ambition does this.

Except for the 5 years in Philadelphia? These guys are often nomadic, and the goal is a GM job. He's got the GM job - why would that be a short-term move?
I meant more recently. Since 2008 it's been Arizona, New England, Arizona and now Tampa. And most of these guys aren't nomadic. None of the other candidates we interviewed were necessarily as nomadic as Licht. I mean it's not the worst choice but it just seems like we are settling. Kind of like the Greg Schiano thing all over. I would have preferred either Ballard, Vital or Gamble personally.
I didn't say "most," I said often - Gamble was with the Jets, Panthers, Ravens, Indy, Eagles, SF, and then Eagles again. Vital was with the Ravens, Pats, Browns, Falcons, and Jets. It's the way it works.

No I can't fault him for doing what he has to do. I just question if this is a good hire or not. Only time will tell.
Somehow someway, I see Bootz calling this a racist hire here shortly.

And to your point about him having a short term mindset, this is the top of his profession. GM is the head coach, it's the starting QB, it's the boss man.
a little bit of optimism goes a long way

I agree. I just question if we got it right. Only time will tell.
I would take this guy over Mark Dominik.
Good mix of pro, college, cap experience. But you never really know from the outside.

You see it here 1st folks. I didn't start it.
