The times just posted an interesting article about Licht's draft record: Does Jason Licht deserve another draft?
It's an interesting metric and it does support my own view that Licht has more or less drafted decently over the last 4 draft as the article compares his results to against other teams over the same 4 years. As a result, his record is in the upper half of the chart. The 2015 draft stands out as possibly his best draft, with the 2017 draft looking to be good also, but this is sandwiched around the 2016 stinker of a draft and his 2014 draft where only Evans remains.
It just all points to the fact that he really needs to nail the draft again this year. Pick a couple of good starters or 3 and I think he makes it to next season. Another draft like 2016 and he's looking for employment at the end of the season.
It's going to be interesting to see if he can shed his even year jinx and hit that home run.
Anyway, I thought it was worth posting because some here have suggested that his drafting was much worse than it appears to be when compared to other GMs. He's not nearly the best, but if he appears to have a good draft this year, you could make a case that he's trending towards that level.
