Many experts will tell you Y/A is very important, can anyone tell me why a guy like Zach is a bad idea? I've watched him play, he passes my eye test....
The Bucs should definitely do their due diligence on him.
If we could maneuver a trade and get him late 2nd or early 3rd, I'd be intrigued for sure. Here is his new highlight video, the guy throws the ball deep, a lot.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TL8-mvZ5umo
On the same subject of YPA, you'll see Aaron Murray was a very good #14 in 2013 and #1 in 2012 and a not too bad for a sophomore #36 in 2011.
Shows some real nice pocket awareness as he slides in the pocket and throws the ball with anticipation up the seams which is where you need to excel take advantage of shallow LB drop. I like him more and more.Cons: Torn ACL in December of 2013 and was dismissed from the Georgia after being arrested for sexual battery in which he apparently groped or fondled a woman a bar.

I did see that actually, his short stature concerns me, a little. I'm not a big protypical height/weight guy but with a QB I think it's a huge advantage to be taller so you can see the field easier.

BucNY, I like your thoughts on this, but I have a problem spending a 2nd/3rd on a guy who wont play at all next year. San Fran was in a position to do this last year due to them being on the cusp. Mett suffered a torn ACL at the end of the season, I doubt he plays for anyone in 2014.

It just comes down to your conviction on him. If he can be a stud QB from 2015-2025, who cares if he didn't play in 2014?
If he's really no where near playing next year, I agree a 3rd would be rough. But if that's true a 6th or 7th would seem a risk worth taking.

I would even be ok with a 5th on him or Murray. I wanted one of them with a middle round pick, but with both getting hurt when they did I think 2014 is a wash for both. More like a draft and stash on IR like Lattimore.

It does, yes. But I have a problem seeing a projected 2nd/3rd rounder (pre-injury) having that same value especially considering what the 2015 draft is going to look like with QBs. I think our fan base would be up in arms if we took a guy in the 2nd who cant play right away or at least compete for a starting job. Seems like an awful waste for a team with the number of holes we have to fill still.
This will catch some people up on Jdoubles craziness about Yards/attempt....It's a good read sooooo just read it. http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/content/pigskin-prophet-commands-sports-media-to-act/6947/

Height is at least a little concern, but if he's truly 6'1", he's only an inch shorter than Aaron Rodgers. Here's him next to an offensive lineman listed as 6'5", and Murray looks 3-4" shorter. That's not the end of the world.
I do hope we take a shot on a guy like AJ McCarron, Murray or Mettenberger. All high Y/A guys but are overlooked because they aren't scramblers. This athletic/scrambling/play extending fade is annoying me. Those are all fall backs for deficiencies as a passer in the first place. All things equal, yeah it'd be nice if Glennon ran a 4.4 but running is only needed when the QB can't find a spot to throw the ball. As Colin Cowherd said on RGIII, if you own a porsche, you don't leave it in the garage, you take it out and race it. Meaning guys who can run will because they can and while they're finding a spot to run WR are open and not being seen. Scrambling ability is important while the QB is learning the game as it does buy him more time and it does allow the offense to move the ball, but long term the QB needs exhaust every option in terms of throwing the ball and a personal belief is that some running QBs give up on the pass from the pocket a little to early.
But is he cute with a nice looking girlfriend?
Doesn't the fact that the Bucs were last in the league in YAC from our Wr's negatively skew the QB's YPA ?Can you remember the last time a WR of ours took a quick slant ( or some other short pass pattern ) , made a couple guys miss , and took it to the house or for a huge gain ? I can tell you it was never in 2013 .....who was the last guy to do it, Joey Galloway ??Giving all the credit to the QB for YPA is sort of dumb . No QB is going deep on every play . If your Wr's get no seperation chances are you are going to have some low YPA.
If Mettenberger doesn't turn into a steaming pile in the 2nd half of games, then why not? Pull the trigger.
