Boy am I loving this crow.  Yum Yum Yum!!!! I underestimated him, especially in the first few years.  But, he brought BA didnt he, he brought Tom Brady didnt he, he brought a SB- and came so close to repeating that it was heart breaking- we barely lost to the Rams that won it all, didnt he.  Mike Evans, Tristan Wirfs, Ali Marpet, Chris Godwin, Winfield, Vita Vea.  He did that didnt he.  He also did Aguayo and Winston and many other misses.  Such is the life of a GM. He also brought the true punt GOD in Camarda, he's another one- Ive never seen a better punter with my own two eyes than him.  Stat people, can we make some comparisons about how the greatest punters ever faired in the first year- Winfield aint the only legend that is growing in front of our eyes.  Back to Aguayo, he dumped Aguayo and kept trying to get it right until Chase. FA, Brady, Fortunate, Suh, Barrett, CHASE, JPP.  He kept Evans, he kept LVD, he kept Godwin, and he'll keep Winfield, Chase, and Camarda.  JL is learning on the fly too.

Ill tell you this.  This team, this year, even though we have some of the same players; I tell you that this team is about 80-90% different than it was last year.  Young players, new systems, new coaches....and yet we still won the division, 3rd year straight BTW, and no one thought we would win more than 5 games without Brady.  JL brought us Baker Mayfield.  I cant think of any QB alive that can follow in Brady's footsteps other than P Ma, but Baker kinda told us fans "hold my beer- I may not win as pretty as Brady, but ill get you to the playoffs MY WAY-with guts, heart, and never say die MOXIE."  If baker can work on his passing this offseason, then I dont even want another QB.  JL did that.  JL should win GM of the year award, Baker comeback player of the year award, and Bucs comeback team of the year (and we didnt even really come back from anything- We won the division again).  Yeah, Ill take JL over any other GM in the league right now.  Even if you dont win the award, dont forget, Winfield also got "snubbed." Winning vs the Eagles will be your revenge JL.  Get'em!!!

Football is a game of inches

at 4-7, his likely would have still remained GM but hot seat coming

making playoffs in the last 4 seasons and in particular this year where we were supposed to soft tank is quite an achievement

we don’t win the Super Bowl without his awesome drafts in 2018,2019 and 2020

hes done more good then bad for this franchise. He better resign Mike Evans all I am saying.

Love the enthusiasm and POSITIVITY of Ramonb posts!  What being a fan is all about.

Agree that Licht has done well and that this team is VERY DIFFERENT than last year and exceeding expectations.

Its been a great ride and I hope it continues!  Go Bucs!!

Thanks man.  Its an acquired skill to be honest.  In the beginning you have to be a bit intentional about being kind unto others, but once you start seeing how positivity can truly affect things on a small scale around you, it starts getting easier, and with enough practice....effortless.

Sorry.  Gotta bump this post.  I read like the first 4-5 paragraphs for The Fab 5- and it reminded me of this post.  Im glad he's getting his credit, but SR took it a step further and honored the forgotten men and women that make up the BACKBONE of the Club.  People like capologist Greenberg, probably among the best cap wizards of our time, Bowles, who AGAINST ALL ODDS won us two division championships.  Oh, and with a new starting QB a "retread" retread my ass, New offense, New offensive coordinator, a blosoming draft (watch out for some of them late pick gems, some are making an impact even now, Thompkins, Izein, Camarda, Kancey).  JL did that didnt he?  But lets not forget the most important piece of the backbone, the glue that holds it all together and has to do all the dirty work in private, they also get the most financial reward, thats their reward for doing their work in private....The Glazers, They brought the Bucs, THEE sports laughing stock of all time, and cleaned this place up.  We almost had a SB in 1999, We got one in 2002 with a pschopath HC named CHUCKY for crying out loud Jiminy Christmas, then came the dark ages, and we blamed them, forgot about them, they tried.  Jeff Garcia, Vincent Jackson, Josh Freeman, Jameis Winston, Lovie Smith, swing and a miss, swing and a miss, swing and a miss.  But they kept trying despite our boos and lack of support.  Then they hit a HR....Jason Licht.  Then we climbed to the top of the mountain again in 2021, IN OUR OWN HOME, IN OUR OWN BEAUTIFUL STADIUM WITH A FREAKING PIRATE SHIP AND CANNONS.  We were destined to kill that game with the GOATS leading the charge.  That has never happened in NFL history, and I bet never will again-hats off 72 Dolphins. Well Now its supposed to be back to the dark ages....right? That's what all the talking heads are saying right.  We cant win without Brady or BA right?  We dont have a QB, we have a "retread" hes washed up right? Our pass D and pass O are trash and we cant run worth a damn right?  Well NOT RIGHT.  We won the division doubters, we playing in our own fakking stadium against the Iggles, a "team that we used to know, but forgot all about them when we baptized their new home."  We dont know who are QB is on Monday night.  Woe are we, we cannot possibly beat the eagles on Monday night in our own home.  Well NOT RIGHT, I say we have a chance, a slim chance to stick to all the doubters one more time.  I love being an underdog, there's beauty in the struggle and victory is proportionally sweeter!!  JL did that didnt he?

THE GLAZERS DID THAT....DIDNT THEY????

Keep up the good work boys, some of us still remember you.  I actually met you once, and you were nothing but kind and humble.

Don't forget its the Not For Long league so it only takes one bad year to turn the tide of public opinion.  But Licht hit it out of the park last year so he's on the pedestal for now.  The reason so many predicted the demise of the Bucs this year was the gaping holes and no cap space to use to fill them.  They were stuck with a HC who was on the hot seat.

Licht went out and found guys throughout the draft and UDFAs to plug those holes.  He found a solid QB for $4 million.  And last years draft picks McCollum and Goedeke for example went from disappointments to solid players.

So no doubt you have to give Licht a lot of credit for the Bucs not falling apart and requiring a full out house cleaning rebuild.  Those housecleaning rebuilds can often times result in just more years of failure as we Bucs fans know first hand.

But Licht has had his failures of course. His Achilles heel has been his first round picks.  The draft is a crap shoot so you can nitpick anybody on those Round 2 and beyond, but Licht has been sketchy when it comes to those all-important first rounders. Those are the guys who should be leading the team to be Superbowl contenders and his batting average on those is in the Kevin Kiermaier range.

Licht has built a team of football players.  David, Winfield, Evans, Mayfield, Godwin.  These are character guys.  Perhaps that's Lichts greatest talent and one we take a little for granted - his ability to flush out those players who have the character and mindset to be successful making the transition from college to the pros.  So give Licht his due for sure.  But it won't take more than a good three game losing streak next year for people on this board to start calling for his head again.

SR dedicates a section of his FAB 5 to singing Licht's praises:

"The Bucs have made the playoffs for four straight seasons. That’s only been done one other time in franchise history – from 1999-2002 when the team posted a 42-22 record.

But the Bucs have only had one general manager, and that’s Jason Licht – the man who brought Arians and Bowles to Tampa Bay in 2019.

Licht and his front office have been the one constant in Tampa Bay during this incredibly accomplished time. The Bucs have made a successful transition from an older, veteran-laden Super Bowl team to a much younger, rookie-filled NFC South champion within the span of four years.

While some suggested that the Bucs blow up the franchise following Brady’s retirement back in January, Licht and Bowles decided to tweak the roster and reload rather than rebuild. It paid off with the team’s third winning season in four years and a fourth straight playoff berth."

Amen Brother.  Another Mic Drop POST authored by Trask Force.  Anyhoo, I also peruse JBF (sue me bishes), well I saw a post about Bakers "recovery" (hardy har har!) and theres a clip of Baker throwing a ball effortlessly for about 35 yards in the air and hit the WR in the hand, and the WR caught it.  Now that was against air, and I dont even know who the WR was...but just hypothetically conjecture with me for a moment.  How about if Baker can throw a 35 yard pass, effortlessly like he did in that clip, but rather in a Playoff game vs the stinking Iggles.  Now imagine if that WR who caught the ball with one hand, was ME!3 or GW!4, with safeties, LBers, and CB's hanging all over them.  I bet on my guys, that is all.

Cant wait until Monday.  And even if we lose, and lose horribly.  We already surpassed all outside hater as$ expectations anyway, and our offseason starts sooner for us to come back next year even fakking stronger!!!  GOOO BUCS!!!!

Im out

No, But he KEPT HIM, and hes on the older age for a LB.  But despite his age, he hasnt slowed down any that I can tell, his instincts will last forever.  Lets talk about LVD hanging it up when he starts slowing down in 3-4 years or so.  Yeah, he didnt draft him, he KEPT a cornerstone piece.  Good job JL.

He has shown signs of slowing down here and there. But he’s so smart, he’ll still be able to play at a pretty high level.

Licht has certainly improved. You can't deny it... he built a championship team and 4 straight playoffs is really nice.

But let's also remember we are .500 the last 2 seasons combined. That doesn't USUALLY translate into 2 division victories.

But him doing this with almost no cap space and getting Baker... def a work of art.

Looking forward to how he manuvers us once we are out of cap hell but also having to sign Baker, Evans, Winfield, Wirfs.

That's a tough one.

Agreed, very subtle, im my previous job I would have called it subclinical meaning unperceptable aside from those with a trained eye.  Yeah, maybe a tad, but he's still the best player at that position currently in the NFL, he has been for years already with the most doubters and haterz, how many probowls has DAVID been to? 1....1....1.  The best "Weakside" LBer we've seen since DB, and he gets 1 nod!!! Blasphemous.  If what happened to W3! this year wasnt ALREADY ENOUGH, just remember LVD has been grinding quietly for years and years.  And the best part is, he's not even done yet, he's still at 99% of his prime RIGHT NOW, and he's coming downhill.  Screw the probowl, screw the haterz, we know who prowls on OUR side of the field while its the defenses turn to play physical chess vs the stinking IGGLES.  But wait.....theres more.  Its not only LVD prowling.  Vita, Rookie, White (believe it or not, he's saves his best for when it counts), SACK BARRETT (yeah he over the hill too 🤣 ) CD!!!, and the CLOSER and STARTER on D W3!!!!

Itll be fine, just relax alil.  Hakuna matata for like 5 minutes a day.  Headspace, on apple market.  Try it for a few days, feedback is always welcome.

Oh, I get it.

OP referred to him as if he drafted him (and it's not the first time he's done it).
