Let me preface this by saying two things.  First, I was not familiar with Joel Klatt before this podcast.  He could be terrible or amazing, I don't know.  Second, I have no agenda.  I have no clue which QB will be better. What's interesting is that Klatt talks about Mariota actually having better pocket movement than Winston.  He discusses some differences between the spread and pro-style (and goes much more in depth earlier in the interview - I recommend listening to the whole thing).  For those that don't want to listen to the Winston/Mariota part (it's ~10 minutes) his reasons for preferring Mariota are that he thinks Winston throws way to many INTs (attributing 14/18 to Winston), isn't as good in the pocket, and is concerned big time about his off-field issues.  He states, and a reminder this wasn't something said for headlines as it's buried in the podcast, that he thinks Winston will be out of the NFL in 5 years.  This is in part due to Winston's issues, and in part due to the NFL's increasing crackdown on off-field issues.Lastly, in his discussion of spread vs. pro-style, he discusses why he prefers pro-style: it has more flexibility and variability, and because of the complexity of the NFL is the only possible offence to run (ie. you won't see primarily spread or option offences).  But he says he prefers Mariota because he feels he demonstrated, even as a spread QB, a superior ability as a pro-style QB.  That being said, Klatt sees the biggest issues for Mariota being commanding the huddle (not from a leadership, but from a verbiage/schematic understanding), and footwork.  He argues that the shotgun aspect is a non-issue, after all Brady lined up in shotgun 80% in the Super Bowl. http://www.solidverbal.com/2015/04/01/scheming-with-joel-klatt-412015/ The Winston/Mariota discussion starts at the 49 minute mark.
