My. f*cking. god.Its almost as if you two had a brain aneurysm when you first saw the word "Tebow" in a Manziel thread...then everything else was a blur, including the context in which it was being used. It has been explained numerous times that the "comparison" between the two has nothing to do with their play/style/techniques on the field. It has everything to do with how they are being discussed and how the hype surrounding them is similar. How many times does this point have to be laid at your feet before it sinks in?
Here, let me try. I do not think that Manziel and Tebow are particularly comparable players. For one, I think there's a reasonable chance that Manziel will succeed in the NFL,whereas I never really bought into Tebow as an NFL quarterback. But I'd still be tempted to reference Tebow in response to your post. It has nothing at all to to with them being similiar players and everything to do with my thinking that "he wins games" is a meaningless statement.Tebow won games in Denver too, but he was never given another starting nod. Why? Because anyone with eyes could see that he was a terrible NFL quarterback. They weren't particularly well-correlated facts, at least in the short run. (It was pretty much impossible for a non-homer to imagine that Tebow's play wouldn't catch up with him if he kept starting.)Similarly, if Manziel succeeds, I'm inclined to believe it will be because he does a good job playing quarterback. That'll be true even if he goes to the Browns and doesn't immediately start winning. Because "he wins games" is a meaningless statement. While there's no one position that factors more into a team's success that quarterback, there are still *far* too many variables for me to put much weight into it.
Yea they aren't the same player but where they are similar is their hype is off the charts and I'm not really buying it. I think Tebow did better than I thought he would getting that playoff win. It I think you give most of the credit to that defense that was very good that year. He did a good job limiting mistakes but that was about it. I think Manziel has a better ceiling and will actually look like a qb. I think his decision making needs to improve. Also as others have said his style will be tough to translate and he's not the biggest guy. Injury could be of concern.
Actually, the comparison is more between their fanbases. But don't let that dampen your man zeal.

Yes, I don't understand how that point is being completely lost on some.
I don't think any sane person thought Tebow was like Romo, Garcia, Favre, Wilson, Kaepernick, RG3, Roethlisberger, ect...
Definitely not the part you should have got from that... But you failed to include the rest of the part which actually is relevant to Tebow and Manziel which was "and they rarely just drop back with great footwork and ideal throwing motion. Not everyone is going to be Tom Brady or Peyton Manning." Anyways here are the other things that apply to both -"This time of year everyone is obsessed with measurables and technique and footwork ect, ect....but in the end, all that matters is can you win?""There is no ideal mold at any position. You can either make things happen or you can't. Johnny is not "normal". He is not the right size and he doesn't just drop back 3 steps and release....but neither do a lot of great QBs. He is unorthodox, but he is ridiculously talented and he finds a way to win doing things his way.""We can debate until we are blue in the face whether his unique style will translate to the NFL"
I mean, c'mon. The whole "I cant believe you guys are comparing his play to Tebow" stuff is either a deliberate deflection to avoid addressing what is actually being discussed, or it is a knee jerk reaction triggered by your man(ziel)-love for the guy....which is not allowing you to see the context in which Tebow is being used.
Manziel is garbage. His "game" will not translate to the NFL. I am relieved that all of you fools aren't employed by my favorite team's front office.

Funny thing , the person who made us all think of Tebow was Jdud himself , when he said these things :"This time of year everyone is obsessed with measurables and technique and footwork ect, ect....but in the end, all that matters is can you win?""There is no ideal mold at any position.
