People fail to realize that JFF has played behind the best O-Line the past 2 years. They have multiple All-Americans and high first round draft picks on that line. They give him 10 seconds to throw and he still scrambles for no GD reason. Does he have a problem seeing over the line? It seems the few times he throws from the pocket his drop is extremely deep. This is a major concern. Here is a picture of JFF and Tajh Boyd. Tajh is only 6 ft tall so I doubt Johnny is more than 5 "10".
Here is what I'm talking about. He runs himself into a sack when he has a perfect pocket. It looks like Jake Matthews wants to punch JFF in the mouth afterwards. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:9881987
And he made the most of it matt. He never held them back one bit. He MADE that offense. That was their defense my friend. They wouldn't have played offense better with any other qb, so I call BS.

I am sure the Manziel fans can dupe your negative highlights with 20 times the positive ones. He is a human highlight reel.
Luckily, he will be long gone by the time the Bucs pick at #7.

And hopefully they move up and nab him. He's proved that he isn't a one trick pony, and if you give him a solid surrounding cast he can be a beast. The guy is comparable to wilson, yet for some reason he's not supposed to be good enough..I guess it's better to draft a de that barely played this season (and only had one good season), right?I have to SMH with a lot of you guys these days.
It just seems silly to draft the fourth best QB with the 7th overall pick.

Whoever takes Johnny Manziel in this years draft will regret it within 3-4 seasons. There is a decent chance that he comes out as a rookie and has a respectable year, but his sandlot style of wing it football will not last longer than a season and will not translate to wins. His size is a huge issue because of how he plays. He will be taking tons of shots when he scrambles and his ball security is troublesome, to say the least. Dude will be a flash in the pan QB. Also there are legitimate concerns about arm strength, work ethic, commitment, etc. Whoever takes this kid will deserve to be where they are in 3-4 years...which is looking for another franchise QB.
There are zero questions about his work ethic. Also, Manziel isn't Tebow. Dude has a nack for sliding under and between big hits to avoid the huge collision. He's not a human battering ram.and hey, Tebow took a team to the playoffs and won a game there, things we haven't done in 7 years and more than a decade
Why do you put that on him chase? I mean, it isn't going to be like that in the nfl. There will be changes in his style of play without a doubt to accommodate the nfl ways. We've seen him go from a running qb, to a passing qb. He can definitely change his style to suit what is needed. To say "sandlot" makes you sound like you are reaching, or don't know football. And I happen to know you know football pretty well, so I'm thinking there might be some bias there.
Sandlot backyard type football is what his game is.

No oc or hc will allow it anyway, so whatever notions you have about that need to be put to rest. You can have a bunch of somewhat valid arguments about jff, but that one won't hold up. Not after he's in the nfl.
The argument isn't whether he's going to be allowed to do it in the NFL, the concern is that that is what he is good at and if he can't do it in the NFL, he won't be very good in the NFL.
Luckily, he will be long gone by the time the Bucs pick at #7.

And there you have hit the crux of the problem with Manziel, he needs to have a solid team around him to have a chance of success. Since we are lacking a solid Oline, TE and WRs (after VJ and MW) drafting Manziel would be a waste of his talent as well as our time. You take a chance on someone like Manziel when the rest of the team is in place to cover his mistakes. Case in point, Wilson and Kapernick. They tend to play sandlot football at times and it works because they have a team capable of winning despite them when they make mistakes. Our draft should be Oline, TE and WR with DE, Nickle corner and Oline in FA.

Ad-libbing and freelancing(aka sandlot ball) is, as YO additionally pointed out, exactly what his game is. To ignore or deny that shows a bit of favoritism and an omission of flaws. Neither of us can definitively saw whether or not this will carry over to the NFL, but I am predicting that it will. As far as the comment that previous poster said that he has a knack for avoiding hits...since when?..regardless, its going to be twice as bad once he gets on an NFL field and the speed of the game/players is exponentially faster than NCAA football. He has not went from a running QB to a passing QB. Thats being disingenuous. He is a scrambling QB. Period. He was a magician at A&M. No denying that. You can get away with his type of play in college. I dont think it will fly in the NFL for longer than a season. He isn't going to ever have an OL that dominates opposing D lines like his A&M group did. He definitely could get a Mike Evans type WR who can go up and get the desperation balls, but to surround him completely with the type of offensive talent he had in college may not be realistic. I happen to think the biggest negative regarding Manziel is that he will constantly be in a bath of ice. I am seeing Mike Vick 2.0, except a little smaller and a weaker arm.
