We can go in circles if you like.
Or, you can simply admit you’re wrong.
Clearly you can find great players rounds 5-7. Licht simply hasn't and he's had AMPLE opportunity to...
He should be drafting more corners, LBs, and safeties late.
He's found talent in the 4th then just gets all weird after that with his picks
He was a UDFA. He didn't even make the opening roster his rookie season and was a practice squad guy. He did not appear in any games as a rookie. What I'm saying is that they aren't being drafted to be starters. They are being drafted to fill backup roles and play special teams. So when Bailey Adams compares Jose Ramirez to Shaq Barrett because he's the same size and then in the same paragraph lists all of Barretts accomplishments as if it's just a matter of time before Ramirez follows in Barretts footsteps.....
Shaq Barrett was drafted in which round?
We can go in circles if you like. Yes there have been occasional players who have been low draft picks who have become starters and even stars. No, Jason Licht in his nine prior drafts, has not drafted any late round starters past pick 149.
I was only pointing out the irony that seemed to be missed.
This stuff is all in jest and not really that complicated. You keep getting clubbed like a seal by Dodos because you're prone to post in the ABSOLUTE ( "They are never going to be starters in the ") and then back pedal (i.e. "GOING IN CIRCLES").
The circling never begins with with "okay, I went too far, some are going to be starters . . "
No big deal, its funny at some level, but also eventually tedious.
OK never say never. The chances are one in a million, "So your saying there's a chance!" I should have used the word "infinitesimal" rather than "never". My bad. They have an infinitesimal chance to become starters. Sure its all in fun. No worries. I'm just calling out the draft analysts and writers who oversell these late round picks, and fans willingly eat it up. I guess that's why they do it. You could at least admit I have a point, even if you disagree with my wording. He was a UDFA. He didn't even make the opening roster his rookie season and was a practice squad guy. If your point is that late round guys are overhyped then yes of course I agree.
If your point is that fans get excited about new players then I agree. They are fans. We are fans. Hope is a natural high.
plenty of fans sucked down two years of tickets when Brady came back.
That’s what fans do
That's true. Part of the NFL experience is getting your hopes up for next year. Every team does it. It keeps us excited about the upcoming season. I guess SR is dutifully playing his role in this as well, calling a home run on this draft before players set foot in the rookie minicamp, even though the Bucs picked 19th. I don't know why, but on the one hand I am more optimistic about this season than most, on the other hand I'm calling bullshit on the draft analysis. As far as I know they are all good picks, but the truth is rookies won't have a big impact on the team right away. How they perform down the road will impact whether this team is successful in years to come, but not so much in 2023. I'll be glad if the 5th round TE becomes the next Cam Brate and the 6th round Edge guy becomes the next Shaq Barrett. But the odds are they are going to perform like 5th and 6th rounders. I just think it's irresponsible for "journalists" to start making those comparisons or even buying into them if coaches start making them.If your point is that late round guys are overhyped then yes of course I agree.

So yeah I'm making a mountain out of a molehill because I have nothing better to do. But because of that it will be fun to see on cut down day whether Shaq Jr. and Cam Jr. make the team or not and what these journalist types say about it then. Or maybe these guys will live up to the hype and I'll eat crow about it.
I still don't understand why people hate this pick. Honesty the team likes the player and they think he can play safety and/or nickel. If Bowles wants to give him a shot why not? No one is saying his game film is perfect but at the same time he has speed and size and is a more polished football player than Ryan Smith or McCollum coming out.
