Guy had nothing left years ago. Happy to see a familiar face
where’s Warren sapp and Simeon rice while we are at it 😂
36. What does he have left in the tank?
Happy to see him back, JPP is one of those freak of natures that can play to 40 im sure the time off has done his body good. He's got a lot of leadership in him, I remember watching an in the current and reading an article about how he saved the 2020 season.
I think as a leader you can't be everyone's friend you have to tell them what they have to hear than what they want to hear. When you're pushing people to be the best the goal isn't to be their friend
“JPP hyped us up,” “He started calling everybody out, telling them, ‘We can’t do this if we want to make the playoffs. We can’t let this game slip away.’” - Mike Evans
“We went into halftime and JPP was just, on fire,” “He was lighting everyone up [and] talking about all the different things we needed to do on offense and on defense and showed incredible leadership. Those 30 minutes, I think, changed the whole football season.” - Tom Brady
“I feel like losers lose, man,” said JPP. “Losers should lose and winners should win. I think guys get caught in situations saving stuff. You know what I’m saying? [Like] saving for the next play. ‘Oh, next play we can probably do this.’ “Don’t save it.” - JPP
Hope he can light a fire under the team..he's probably not going to do much though at least shouldn't expect it.
While I love the fire and passion JPP brought to the team his first go around, this wreaks of desperation....I know he mentioned wanting to give the NFL a go one more time a few months ago, but this reminds me of Shaq last year. It also remeinds me of Bernie Mac' character in Mr. 3000....I know that was "just a movie" but that doesn't mean that they didnt get the locker room dynamic right....Bunch of young bucs with a player coming out of retirement after years away from the game..He can be a fire starter for sure, but how will that message come across if he's not able to lead by example anymore and back it up ? Most of these guys weren't around when he last suited up, so those words might ring hollow pretty quick. Maybe it's more to do with hoping his attitude will rub off on some of the younger guys, but I'm not going to get my hopes up. I'd love for him to come in, kick some ass and get a few meaningful sacks to round out the year but I'm not going to hold my breath...I'd love to be wrong on this take, and I sincerely hope that I am.
He's back to lifting weights, one thing I didn't like is that he didn't lift as often after his fireworks incident. If he's still got speed im sure hes gonna get good us some good reps if he given playing time. He's bigger than what he was when he was with us. Im pretty sure he was playing around 240-245 on us vs 280 on the Giants when he lifted often. I think hes around 255-260 now
I unfortunately I have seen enough of the other ends outside of Diaby
@mic Totally agree on seeing enough of the other Ends sans YaYa.. If he is lifting again then maybe he can feature the bull rush and be a bit more disruptive...The big thing that gives me pause is (and I know no two players are created equal) but DB55 was 35 his last season in TB where he fell off a cliff, David is 35 and going through a similar dropoff, and JPP is 36...Maybe a couple of years away has helped his body heal, but who knows how much speed he has left.
More of a locker room signing in my opinion
Shaq didn’t really help last year but maybe JPP has that winning pedigree with giants and Bucs
he probably be about as good as braswell so who cares why not
Maybe locker room leadership but hard to imagine he'd make any real contribution
Yea the ST guys on kick coverage are either … I don’t wanna say it ….soft …or aren’t being coached up.
special teams is the one unit where you don’t need talent but a bunch of try hard guys who are willing to die for the team out there and you can be the best ST unit in the league
@mic not sure if you remember or not, but back during the Dungy era the rookies generally cut their teeth on special teams. Then they’d generally take on a bigger role at their respective positions in their second year. I kind of wish we’d go back to that structure so you get that hungry juice out there. I’m okay with our current returners, but pretty much everyone else can be upgraded.
DESPERATION
I thought this thread was a joke until I heard it on the news. Yep. And 44 year old Philip Rivers just called up in Indianapolis LOL!
