So the guys in charge at OBP have a pulse afterall. The Suh signing is good news because it shows me that they truly believe the Bucs can contend this year and are not just selling us false hopes. That said, we still have at least one major hole along the DL as JPP is likely done for the year (or most of it in the best case scenario). I expect the Bucs to sign at least one defensive end/edge rusher. Let’s take a quick look at a couple of the top DE FAs still available. Note that while there isn’t any top-level talent remaining on the open market, the following players will likely come at an affordable price and would still serve as in upgrade over the likes of Noah Spence and Will Gholston, if they can stay healthy.
Derrick Morgan - 30 - Injured most of 2018 but expected to bounce back. Good production in 2016 & 2017 with 9 and 7.5 sacks respectively along with a few passes defenses in each of those seasons.
Nick Perry - 30 - Injured in 2018 but pretty productive in 2016 & 2017, with 11 and 7 sacks, respectively. Also made an interception in 2016.
Randy Gregory - 26 - Currently suspended indefinitely for violating the substance abuse rules, but is still a very talented player. Worth investigation/keeping tabs on.
