I watched Justin Evans as part of my annual hunt for my top-50 rated players. I didn't get too far because the film was bad. So I just went back and re-watched Alabama and Tennessee games from 2016 and OMG Justin Evans is a TERRIBLE Safety. TERRIBLE. Here are my notes.
The good
- Has very good closing speed when the ball is in the air.
- Plays centerfield pretty well on the deep ball. Had a INT on a hail mary to end the half w/ Alabama
- Comes downhill to meet the receiver when the ball is in the air
The bad
- Passive in run support. He stands flat footed or he loafs up to the LOS arriving with no force
- Doesn't take a direct line to the ball carrier. Has no mirror match ability as a downhill tackler
- Read and react seems to be short circuited. Comes in at 1/2 speed as if he can't figure out the correct angle.
- Drag down tackler. When he was lucky enough to get his hands on the ball carrier he gets dragged down the field
- Major liability as a saftety. Missed 7 tackles in these 2 games!!!
- Fails to recognize his responsibility in bunch formations.
- Slow to react to routes causing too much separation
- Absolutely gets torched on cut backs. I didn't see one cut back that didn't cause him to miss a tackle in 2 games
WTF is going on at OBP? Who is responsible for this selection? Is it Spytek? Why has our drafting gone FULL Retard since Jon Robinson left. This player will never see the field and if he does we are up shits creek. This is a TERRIBLE 2nd round pick. TERRIBLE!!!!!
All I want to know is, who's head is going to roll for picking a 6th round talent in the 2nd round? What a joke of a scouting department. Total Joke. Bring back Jon Robinson for fux sake
