On sports talk radio this morning, I heard Kam Johnson being compared to Antonio Brown, talentwise, not personality. I haven't been able to watch much ( 1 quarter) of preseason so I can't give any type of evaluation. To those of you who have been able to observe his play, would you agree with the comparison? If so, that would speak highly of our scouting department.

Wow, high praise, right?  AB obviously has/had off-field issues, but as a receiver  . .  man, was he amazing.

Look forward to the replies

Like Kam, but I haven’t heard this either. Seems a bit early for an AB comparison? It would be nice, but seems a bit early.

I thought it was just skill as a return guy, at least as compared to the other WRs? Not sure, but that that was one of his things in college and its definitely a bigger thing this season and forward as the kickoff rule evolves

Kam Johnson is going to be used in more ways in Coen's offense than we realize.

He's def a guy, hes more in the mold of Randall cobb or Victor cruz. Looks like a smart slot wr with outside potential because of his athletic ability. In his highlights he goes up strong for ball and can make 1handers in traffic.

Brown was a great pass catcher, and Kam has caught a sum total of 3 preseason passes for 12 yards.  So I'd like to see a spectacular catch or two before I start comparing him to Antonio Brown.  But nevertheless I'm excited to see what he can do.  It's one thing to look good out there.  It's another to get that ball to stick to your hands when you are surrounded by NFL caliber defensive backs.

I dont think we can really compare anyone to antonio brown he was arguably the #1 WR in the nfl for 6 years for being an undersized 5'10 guy. I cant recall another 5'10 wr that could torch defenses

He definitely has talent and skill, but the over-hyping is getting a bit much for an undrafted player that has yet to take a real NFL snap.

@bucsbits Well if he's reciting bible verses he definitely is not comparable to AB's personality 😎

hahahah! Great point!

When AB was good, he was very, very good… but when he was bad…he stripped his clothes off and stunned an entire stadium, during a game…

The diva was strong with that one.

I’ll take Bible verses for $50, Alex

…as long as it comes with a side of wildthang when the stadium lights are on.

I was impressed by Johnson in his limited time in pre season but he really shined in the practices. You can't teach that level of explosiveness and the ability to contort your body to make a tough catch.

Keep in mind that Coen will be using Johnson as a utility player in this offense to throw in wrinkles to augment what White/Irving/Tucker running game.  This offense is going to be using a lot of players to create mismatches.

Bucky Irving listed as KR along with Tucker.  That was one potential use for Johnson.  Maybe he's the punt guy
