I'm not totally sold on Kaep, but their passing game is pretty effective. They are Football Outsider's 6th-ranked passing game, 16th rushing.
NS i understand that. Ranked 32 in passing ypg, and a QB under 60%?I dont like Football Outsiders much or that trash PFF.

That's part of my argument against Kaepernick. If he is such an effective passer why don't they do it more. If your strength is passing why do you make running the ball your priority?
It's simple, really (and what PFF and FO is totally different, btw). Passing yards per game are largely, but not entirely, a function of the number of passes thrown - they tell you nothing qualitative other than that the team likes to throw or else is often behind in games (and is forced to throw). Completion % is a useful number. But those are just two, context-free numbers. What FO does is look at the result of a play against all other plays like it, and adjusts for the quality of the defense (in fact, SF's is adjusted quite a bit as they've played the 7th-toughest schedule in terms of defenses faced - think AZ and SEAT twice, e.g.). So take the example of completion percentage, and use some simple numbers. Team A's QB goes 5-10 for 35 yards. Team B goes 7-10 for 49 yards. Team B's guy is better, right? Well what if I told you that all 5 of the Team A's completions went for first downs and he was playing against the best pass D in football. Meanwhile Team B's QB completed his first pass for 39 yards, but the rest of the way went 6-9 for 9 yards and no first downs. And did this against an average defense - Would you still view the numbers the same way? Of course not. Well that's really all FO does, and their rankings seem to make some sense - do any of these teams really look out of place in the top 5 for passing?1. Denver2. San Diego3. New Orleans4. Seattle5. Chicago

I think you are missing my point. I don't think necessarily that Kaep is a great QB, and don't think he could be plugged in everywhere. But in an offense where his reads are limited and they can use the run to help him, he's very effective.
Greg Cosell thinks Kaep struggles to progress through his reads.

49ers are 28th in total offense, how effective could he possibly be? Anwers...about as effective as Mike Glennon who has the bucs at 30th.
I've heard Greg Cosell say that. I'd also add, that their problem this year has been rushing, where they are just 16th (using FO). They are 14th overall on O.
BucsNY - I don't know how to say it any easier than I put it before. Total yards just don't tell you all that much. That's why advanced metrics exist. For what it's worth, the Bucs are 24th - 20th passing, 24th rushing.
He was bad earlier on in the season but he's been decent the past few weeks since Crabtree has been back.

So having a 2nd WR back does help? Where have I heard that it doesnt? Hmm...
We have lost two games because of missed kicks by a replacement kicker. I guess that Barth going on IR didn't hurt us at all though...

All legit concerns in that article by respected analysts .But all opinions aside , it's striking how quick FRG is to defend that guy , and bash the hell out of ours ....

That's classic FRG.He can't be a fan of another team because the bucs need him here to tell how bad they are at everything they do. Like declaring wasted picks, new Myron Lewis' and such.
Yes, he seems to have some KAP love.
