The Desmond Ritter-lead, Bijan Robinson-less Falcons are better than Tampa Bay?
The Falcons beat the Texans, right?
And Arizona beat Dallas, you blithering simpleton.
I tell your dumbass what, why don’t you tell me how many starters on defense and offense you would take on Atlanta or Houston over Tampa’s. To keep you from scouring the interwebz, there are 11 starters on both offense and defense. If I need to list all of the positions for you, just ask.
This will be comical.

Way to own it Buggsy.
Way to . . . own . . it
lmao
This (that the offense had more problems than just Mayfield) is Bowles and Canales point
Coach-speak tends to fool those simpletons with low football acumen.
LMAO . . Buggsy, you're the North Star of WRONGNESS.
Way to own it Buggsy.

In all fairness, answer the question and give your reasons why.
nah, seasons fucked. just be glad panthers picked young over stroud, otherwise we'd be truly fucked for a long while

He can't. As anybody who is on this board with any regularity can see, he simply doesn't have the football acumen to back up any of his dumbass posts. I spotted the poor bastard the "C" and the "A", and he still can't spell CAT. He's been scouring the internet for hours, hoping he can find a cut-and-paste job to no avail. It blows his simple little mind that TB beat MIN, ATL beat TB, and then MIN beat ATL.

So "all fairness" requires that I swing at Buggsy's pitch in the dirt deflection, like I am Rand Paul out in right field batting cage?
C'mon, man. Lets recap where we are.
You two BOTH offered some version of the offenses woes are on Mayfield, sort of the 2023 version of "its all Leftwich."
This was my response:
we have lost because other teams were just better than us. We have lost because we cannot run, because our defense can’t get off the field, because of poor QB play, because of undisciplined play on offense and defense, because of poor coaching.
it’s never one thing.
Mayfield is not a great QB ("poor QB play") but yesterday he led the offense to 37 points while his offensive teammates got penalties for OPI and penalties for holding and false starts and as his offensive teammates got blown up run blocking (look at Otton, as one example) and as his offensive teammates FUMBLED and as his defensive teammates got unsportsmanlike penalties ("undisciplined play"). He had something like a 115 QBR.
So, in all fairness, DH . . . . AFTER YESTERDAY which one of us was right?
You and Buggsy ("the offenses woes are on Mayfield" ) or me (the team losses are tied multiple deficiencies)?
C'mon you can "own it" even if Buggsy cannot?
Yesterday "the defense [could not] get off the field" multiple times and had "undisciplined play . . and penalties" and were "poor[ly coached]. Yesterday, Palmer didn't hold anyone downfield, but he fumbled the ball, as one offensive example. Ottongot pushed off the field on a couple blocking plays
If you two want to deflect from your own failed claim by saying -- as self-described stat guys, no less -- that we are better ON PAPER than the Falcons who beat us, that is YOUR prerogative because its your DEFLECTION .. so have it at! It only underscores the deflection. I do NOT agree with the claim because I don't agree with the premise (paper trumps performance?) and certainly do NOT intend to engage in the folly of supplanting OBJECTIVE FACTS (w-l record, standings etc.) with a SUBJECTIVE run through of the paper rosters. That's what you guys -- THE STAT GUYS -- seem to want to do and that is telling, right?
The Falcon were "just better than us." The Bucs are NOT better than the Falcons until they beat them or pass them in standings at least, right? . . LEST we throw out the entire playoff system for you BEAUTY PAGEANT approach, so back to the point:
ARE THE OFENSES WOES ON MAYFIELD?
HOW ABOUT THE TEAM, DID WE LOSE YESTERDAY BECAUSE OF MAYFIELD?
Way to own it Buggsy.
Way to . . . own . . it

RIGHT ON CUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DH, this (above) is the standard you are matching yourself up with. LMAO . . .
I love this part - - -"he simply doesn't have the football acumen" -- -especially when that claim is made of someone who does not stake a claim to any special "football acumen" and its made AFTER Mayfield just ran Canales BALANCED offense to the tune of 37 points while the defense coughed up a Buggsy hairball.
Again, this was my point:
we have lost because other teams were just better than us. We have lost because we cannot run, because our defense can’t get off the field, because of poor QB play, because of undisciplined play on offense and defense, because of poor coaching.

Buggsy is effectively the clown trying to belittle someone else's shoes
I'll chime in. A lot of the offensive woes are on Mayfield, but not all. His inability to see guys wide open at the intermediate and deep level, and his failure, when he does see them, to throw in time, getting the ball defensed, is causing all kinds of issues for this team. Nobody worries about our passing game. They play to stop us from running and, when we get behind, they just drop everyone knowing we can't beat them. Mayfield is too short. It's obvious that his throwing lanes are getting blocked at times requiring him to reacquire the target. He's getting hemmed in by defenses keeping the edge covered. Then his crappy accuracy shows up with his many misses. The deep ball to Evans would have been a walk in touchdown if he threw the ball better. He sucks. 19 yards of offense in the third quarter, including throwing to a completely covered Vaughn for -1 yards on a 3rd and 3. His accuracy only looks good because he's Captain Check Down. Pretty easily to throw over 60% when most of your passes are less than a few yards.
We need chunk plays. Ironically we saw this in the preseason. Trask got chunk plays and regularly stacked first downs, while Mayfield regularly went 3 and out, but for his two scoring drives. Changing the QB and seeing if Trask can do better is the least they can do. Might also want to sub in Leveret for Mauch, but Mauch is probably a better long term answer.
The main answer from what i noticed is that to turn the season around, is the coaches need to accept that they are wrong and their is half a seasons worth of film out there of how "their guys" are performing. Reaccess the film and guys like neal, mauch, hainsey, joe tryon, neal, dean, thompkins, jarrett and if they are underperforming and do they have the guy whos up next that has outperformed them in practice/film. The ego needs to go and its time to save their jobs coaching adjustments are needed
A lot of the offensive woes are on Mayfield, but not all
Mayfield is definitely NOT the answer, but he is the right type of QB for the system they are trying to run. BUT they have not (until the Texans game and even then only in part) been able to effectively run that offense BECAUSE of the failing of the o-line, penalties, inability to run (ESSENTIAL to the offense). YOU CAN SEE THIS ON THE FILM POSTED RIGH HERE ON PR
Its easy if you just think of it this way:
last year we had the GOAT at QB and because we could not run AND the QB/and former QB OC called the offense - we basically abandoned the run. WITH THE GOAT at QB we only limped into the playoffs with an offense that was 65% pass/35% run. WE SUCKED.
Baker Mayfield is a JOURNEYMAN who isn't even close to the GOAT. He is not going to do better than Brady in a 65/35 offense.
He is going to do OKAY with a run game and a screen/short passing game (see White's performance against Texans) that SLOWS the pass rush our O-line cannot stop and that keeps the defense off balance. If you look at the Texans GAME on OFFENSE WE ARE BALANCED , we are almost 50/50 run/pass) and NOT the heavy passing attack.
We lost to the Falcons UNECESSARILY going heavy pass and . . that game effectively ended with a bad INT
The offense against the Texans STILL had terrible plays from people other than Mayfield, including an unnecessary OPI by Evans, holdings, falssatrst, FUMBLE by Palmer but we still overcame all of that.
Mayfield is NOT great BUT not the sole reason for the offensive problems. Hell, ONE OF OUR BEST RUNS (11 yd White run, I think) happens in part because OTTON is such a terrible blocker that his defender pushes them both far out of the play lol
Both Canales and Bowles pointed out that the offense problems go well beyond Mayfield . . it was dismissed lol as "coach speak" even though it is ON the film article right here on PR
By the way, if you watched film from last year you will see Brady "missing" seemingly open receivers as he checks down (one example) to someone else because of the pressure and timing of progression.
NOT . . I repeat . . not giving Mayfield an out because he has missed open receivers with THROWS. Just saying that the in-game commentary here is a bit over the top. There are always receivers running open that a QB never gets to, cant get to because of pressure etc. Thats the rest of the team. Mayfield deserves criticism more fort the wide open MISSES, like DH pointed out the double clutching and things like that. He was available for a reason
yeah none of us are saying we want to see the next 5 years of Baker Mayfield
i think most of us want to draft a QB high next year. that being said, i think Baker is having arguably the best year of his career and will likely be re-signed to a 1 year, $25 million dollar deal, unless of course he reverts to slop.
he isn't Tom Brady. But he also isn't Jameis Winston.
with Baker, our ceiling would be a first round playoff exit. That is not what we hold as the gold standard given our 2 superbowls!
but this team lacks talent. we are mediocre talent wise and if we want to compete with Eagles, 49ers, and Dallas in the NFC; we need to get better at drafting
will likely be re-signed to a 1 year, $25 million dollar deal, unless of course he reverts to slop.
1-year, $25M for Baker Mayfield? He's shown what kind of QB he is (inconsistent at best) at every stop. If Licht brought that deal to the Glazers, they should send him packing immediately. That might possibly be the dumbest contract in the history of football. Hell, at least Albert Haynesworth was First Team All-Pro the two season prior to Washington's dumbass contract. Baker Mayfield has done nothing worthy of $25M for one season.
