DVOA quick tip, negative numbers are good for defense, but bad for offense.
Offensive DVOA under Koetter
2015 17 TB -1.1% (as OC)
2016 19 TB -4.1%
2017 11 TB 5.2%
2018 12 TB 5.9%
Offensive DVOA under Arians through week 11
2019 24 TB -9.3%
This is worse than Dirk's worst year (2016 when we won 9 games)
Meanwhile the defense is improved so far and better than the offense
2019 22 TB 4.5%
Under Koetter our defense was
2016 13 TB -2.9%
2017 32 TB 11.7%
2018 32 TB 14.8%
So clearly in 2016 the defense carried the offense (rank 13 on d vs 17 on o)
Then our defense collapsed completely and we were the worst in the league two years running, which got Koetter fired. Now we've got a better defense (rank 22 on d vs 24 on o) but they both really suck, just not as bad as the defense sucked the last two years.
So TL:DR, Defense carried us in 2016 our last good year, our offense went from a plus to a negative under Arians, but our defense is mildly improved, but not enough to carry the offense.
