The Rams are set to release Cooper Kupp. I don't think the Bucs will be players though. But hey you never know.

no, this time we know. And the answer is no.
The Bucs will likely draft a WR in the mid rounds -Round 3 or 4. We still need another young WR to add to the mix. I don't think another 30 something is the answer.

i'd argue that may not even be in play
With Evans and Godwin around likely another 2 years, and with McMillian as the slot...you have Palmer as a development guy. I dont see the need to waste a 3rd or 4th on a WR in this years draft
would suggest, DL, Edge, ILB, and CB heavily defense
Bucs can look at WR in 2026 depending on if Evans continues to be ageless, etc.
If the Bucs are truly in "win now" mode and the Reddick deal suggest they think they are then its seems less likely they would take a WR late unless someone really high on their board is still there. I agree with Alldaway and Trask that WR might be a good developmental move now, but the Bucs dont seem to be in that mode and Sr has been writing about "flooding" positions. Lots of needs on defense.
Palmer is a weird one. His drop off last year makes me wonder if the Bucs still see him as an option.

I agree that the Bucs more than likely use a 3rd or 4th round pick to find another WR to develop.
I think there’s still a chance the Bucs add a receiver in round 1-3. Evans is on his last year — hopefully we can extend him another year or two… but WR talent wins games.
i just dont get it...defense was brutally lacking talent last year.
LVD and Haason Reddick on 1 year deals; Logan Hall, Cate Otton, Luke Goedeke, Mike Evans, Logan Hall, and Zyon McCollum all key free agents next year.
Evans likely to retire a Buc so assuming he gets extended. Also assume they try and keep Goedeke as a priority signing with guys like Otton and McCollum up there but not as significant as Evans and Goedeke.
Would think at least 1 pick in the top 4 needs to be used on ILB? David + who? Yeah, need some competition there.
Would think at least 1 pick can be used on Edge. Reddick may or may not work out but hes most likely a 1 year rental. Diaby seems promising but jury remains out on Braswell.
Would think at least 1 pick can be used on defensive line. As the Eagles showed, you can never have too many guys in your front 7. Plus this can provide some competition for Hall
Would think given Deans injury issues and McCollum free agency status, that cornerback will also be a top pick.
so i'm just saying we had a top 5 offense without Godwin for half the year and coaching staff not fully unleashing Bucky until midway through the year. The defense on the other hand held us back. They need a talent infusion....
what does a #4 WR do us in 2025 if we are truly trying to contend for a championship. How many targets will this guy see a game?
I say push in to 2026. What if in 2025 both Evans and Godwin remain elite. then what? this dude just going to be in the Tyler Johnson or Trey Palmer role playing special teams at best? i dont know, with a bottom 10 defense, i think we need to blitz it
@badabingbucs Not every pick is determined by most immediate need. If you think there’s a WR out there who can play for you for 8-10 years and be a star vs. a “need” position that just has okay options, you go with the better player. Yeah, obviously they have defensive needs to fill, and I’m sure they will. That doesn’t mean they couldn’t spend one premium pick on offense for the right player...
As for a draftee only being a 4th receiver… depends on who it is… Depending on the body type, he could ascend to 3rd receiver in year one (as an outside receiver) even though McMillan is very good. And again, if Evans is gone after this year, do you really wanna start McMillan? - he’s thin and I just don’t see him as a 1a/1b receiver. Also, we know that our starting receivers are going to miss some time due to injury, as they always do… I don’t think going 4 deep at WR is all that crazy… If you wanna continue to have a high powered offense, you have to keep reloading. And we haven’t even talked yet about Godwin’s recovery from the ankle injury and if he’s going to be back to 100% right away.
I understand investing in needs. I also think there are obviously decent arguments to pick another receiver. Also, should be noted, when Todd was asked at the combine which positions he was looking at, he mentioned edge, CB, and WR.
All this said, I don’t really see them going receiver in round. Maybe round 2 or 3.
nah i get it but it just seems like we have so many other holes
Bucs had the 3rd ranked offense and 18th ranked defense last year. With a stronger defense, we may have been able to overcome the offense snafus in the playoff game by rookie center and mind boggling Baker fumble.
I get it, Godwin coming off injury and Evans on the wrong side of 30...just saying, why not build up defense this year and see how these guys do in 2025.
like if one of our concerns comes true this year, cant we just use a 1st on a WR in 2026 draft?
Let's say Godwin and Evans are elite another 3 years. that WR will never see the light of day....unless McMillian is a bum but he looks like he came on a bit strong 2nd half of last year.
just seems to be like a premature pick in 2025. Maybe i can see TE in round 3 or 4 but i guess we will see. I agree it isn't always based off needs...but then again i've seen Licht draft kickers, punt returners, and back-up QBs with premier picks so it's anyone's guess.
We might be the last team that should consider him.
We need depth, youth, and projects as we twilight Evans.
Drafting a wr early would be like the year we took trask. Not single-handedly obviously but could’ve cost us a chance to repeat based on how we lost that Rams game.
like stated above a wr4 won’t help us this year.
Palmer developing eh I wouldn’t rely on that.
wr id consider rounds 5-7. Not before that.
Drafting a WR after the 4th round is going to be a waste as they are not going to be better than the backend of the roster already under contract. To seriously upgrade WR4 and add a consistent deep threat the Bucs will use a 3rd or 4th round pick.
Bucs have most of their starters in place anyways on defense and need to upgrade EDG, ILB and CB. CB can wait to the 4th or 5th round to play zone. ILB is more likely to be a higher selection due to urgency but again starting caliber LBs have been found in the 3rd and 4th round as well. Edge Bucs will have to use a first round pick to ensure they are not grabbing the 10th best player at the position.
My prediction is Bucs go edge in round 1, round 2 ILB, round 3 WR, and round 4 CB and round 5 OG.
The Bucs can't afford to plan to have 17 games of healthy Evans and Godwin. They have to have another WR to develop. Evans is only signed through 2025. He could retire after that. You never know. But regardless I think we need another WR. The depth WRs we have after the top three will be lucky to make the team this year at all.
If you look at ourlads projected depth chart the Bucs have 7 WRs under contract which means they have room for 4-5 more WRs to take to camp.
Also, Bucs OL depth and DL depth is non existent at the moment. A combination of free agency and draft will restock the depth for the trenches.
And the other obvious areas of non existent depth is ILB and boundary CB.
Pretty tough to find Evans eventual replacement in the 3rd round or later. If that’s the goal maybe wait until 2026
The Bucs could take any position if there’s enough value so can’t rule anything out in the draft, especially with free agency still.
