Drafting a WR after the 4th round is going to be a waste as they are not going to be better than the backend of the roster already under contract.  To seriously upgrade WR4 and add a consistent deep threat the Bucs will use a 3rd or 4th round pick.

Bucs have most of their starters in place anyways on defense and need to upgrade EDG, ILB and CB.  CB can wait to the 4th or 5th round to play zone.  ILB is more likely to be a higher selection due to urgency but again starting caliber LBs have been found in the 3rd and 4th round as well.  Edge Bucs will have to use a first round pick to ensure they are not grabbing the 10th best player at the position.

My prediction is Bucs go edge in round 1, round 2 ILB, round 3 WR, and round 4 CB and round 5 OG.

The Bucs can't afford to plan to have 17 games of healthy Evans and Godwin.  They have to have another WR to develop.  Evans is only signed through 2025.  He could retire after that.  You never know.   But regardless I think we need another WR.  The depth WRs we have after the top three will be lucky to make the team this year at all.

If you look at ourlads projected depth chart the Bucs have 7 WRs under contract which means they have room for 4-5 more WRs to take to camp.

Also, Bucs OL depth and DL depth is non existent at the moment.  A combination of free agency and draft will restock the depth for the trenches.

And the other obvious areas of non existent depth is ILB and boundary CB.

Pretty tough to find Evans eventual replacement in the 3rd round or later. If that’s the goal maybe wait until 2026

The Bucs could take any position if there’s enough value so can’t rule anything out in the draft, especially with free agency still.

Drafting a wr early would be like the year we took trask. Not single-handedly obviously but could’ve cost us a chance to repeat based on how we lost that Rams game.

like stated above a wr4 won’t help us this year.

Palmer developing eh I wouldn’t rely on that.

wr id consider rounds 5-7. Not before that.

What if Tet is a top 10 WR in 4 years?

Then you take him.

Shouldn’t feel pigeonholed to reach on need.

yeah i am confused, we arguably have the best WR trio in the league....at least a top 10 unit no doubt.....and we have fans of the team wanting another WR

and completing agree unless you go 1st or 2nd round, it seems like it could be a waste...particularly if they are not going to get reps - Guys drafted past the 3rd round in the last several drafts - Trey Palmer, Jaelon Darden, Tyler Johnson, Scotty Miller, Justin Watson

also - can anyone name me the 4th WR on the Eagles or Bengals?

We need Evans replacement now but not LVD’s? How about a warm body to go next to LVD? Or behind him?

We only have 1 pick in the draft?

FA is over?

Heck, even you can agree that the defense was lacking talent last year...or maybe just managed by an unqualified coach, but either way, the defense needs improvement is one we can agree on.

so we took a flier on Haasan Reddick, David is another year older, Dean can't stay healthy, and as the Eagles showed, you can never had too much talent upfront.

I think we can also agree that areas of need ahead of WR include:  DL, Edge, ILB, and CB.

we have Evan's replacement waiting in the wings already in McMillian.  Godwin, presumably, should be good another 3 years.  Evans, in my mind, will be good another 2 years but let's say he turns to shit this year...then why not use that 1st or 2nd round pick in 2026

using in 2025, like others have said, is alot like the Trask pick...but even worse in my mind because at least in 2021, there were no holes on this team.  There are blatant holes on this team in 2025 and i'd argue that TE, OG likely the only offensive picks and meaning 1 selection that would make sense in the 2025 draft within the first 4 rounds.

Both.

But, again, I want the best TALENT on the team.

Not reach for need.

We have enough draft capital to help the defense.

Not every pick needs to be defense (unless BPA dictates it).

1) The Buccaneers use three wide receiver sets 83% of the time, third most in the league.  So, they essentially have three starting WRs.

2)  Do you think both Evans and Godwin are going to start 17 games?  Godwin may not even be healthy to start the season.  We don't know.  And Evans has one year left on his deal and could decide to retire - we don't know that either.  If we want both of them healthy for the playoffs then we need to be able to sub in for them at times.  We may be paying them a lot of money, but money doesn't change who they are - they are veteran players who will be more injury prone and will need more breaks than a younger player would.

3) Palmer is not the answer.  He's borderline to even make the roster as are any of the other WRs on the team.

So for those reasons we need another WR, a younger one who can develop into an eventual #1 or #2. I'd use a 3rd or 4th rounder.

Keep in mind that @ 4pm today is the "official start of FA"....yes the legal tampering window is coming to a close, but there are lots of quality players available.  I've said it before and i'll say it again. I appreciate the fact that Licht is always able to find money to be able to take care of priorities...the past few years we've had so many key players needing new contracts with lots of dead cap space and little resources, but he finds a way.  I fully expect to see a flurry of moves over the next several days ( be it extensions, or restructures) so that he can fill some of these holes with a combination of solid, and bargain FA's so that we have flexibility in the draft to let it come to us and take BPA.

Definitely have to see what FA brings and no one wants the Bucs to make bad need react but the 2019 draft is all defense or offense only very late.

the idea that defensive draft would = reach for need is a bit of a red herring

no problem with WR if there is an obvious huge value play and maybe FA solves some of the D problems

The “fire Bowles” crowd of 2024 wants a WR …

:-)
